Coral Gables Two elderly women were robbed in their Coral Gables apartment Tuesday, Oct. 12, at 9 a.m., when they opened their door to a man posing as a delivery boy. Police said that 60-year-old Leano Levine and her roommate, Sylvia Janpol 59, answered the door to a man who ordered them back inside at gunpoint. The man tied up Ms. Janpol, struck Ms. Levine in the face and tied her up, then took her money and ran. Seven Haitians on a sailboat piloted by a South Dade couple were apprehended by Customs officials in Coral Gables waters Tuesday, Oct. 12, at 8 p.m. According to police, Michael N. Booth, 27, and his 26-year-old wife Margaret, who live at 5745 SW 34th St., and the Haitians - one man, three women and three children - were brought on shore at 6901 Edgewater Dr. Holli McMillan, 21, a visiting student nurse working with Coral Gables Fire-Rescue Unit broke her ankle as she tried to exit the station via the fire pole, Wednesday, Oct. 13, at 2:34 p.m. Vivian G. Leal, 32, who lives at 525 Jeronimo, reported to police that a group of unruly juveniles egged her house and dumped detergent into her pool, Sunday, Oct. 10, at 1:19 p.m. William Baron, 55, who lives at 3611 Riviera Dr., reported to police Monday, Oct. 11, that a large, reddish-orange cat climbed to the top of her patio and fell through the screen, tearing out a sizable portion. South Dade The Seven-Eleven Store at SW 168th Street and 97th Avenue was robbed Wednesday, Oct, 13, at 12:05 a.m. A man wearing a stocking mask and brandishing a handgun forced employe Johnnie Gaines to give up the money in the register. A South Dade man avoided being robbed when he insisted he had no money and fought a stranger for his safety. Police reported that Hy Eval, 49, who lives at 9001 SW 77th Ave., was getting out of his car when a man armed with a gun demanded his money. When he said he was broke, the robber hit him with the gun. Eval fought back, officers said, and the stranger fled empty-handed. West Dade Two soccer goal posts and two football tackle sleds were stolen from Tamiami Park between July 19 and Oct. 10, the Dade County Parks and Recreation Department told police. Total value of the theft is $925. Greiger Herman, 70, who lives at 5742 SW 35th St., reported to police that someone stole two staghorn ferns from his home Oct. 10 or 11. The plants were valued at $200 apiece, officers said. Deborah Feldman, 35, of 6241 SW 116th Pl., complained to police that someone crept onto her patio during the day Sunday, Oct. 10, and stole her barbecue grill. Wayne Weise, 29, who lives at 12905 SW 42nd Terr., reported to police that someone broke into his home Sunday, Oct. 10, between 2 p.m. and 11 p.m., ransacked his house and stole $6,450 worth of household goods.

Setting it straight

It was erroneously reported in the Coral Gables police blotter of The Times/Guide's Wednesday, Oct. 13, issue that Robert R. Hildreth, Jr., lives at 1224 Blue Rd., a house that was recently robbed. Hildreth told Coral Gbles police he does not live at that address. Lupe Paniagua now resides at the Blue Road address.
