Gables woman's club to hold trash and treasure salethon

Want to get your dollar's worth? The Trash and Treasure Super Salethon to be held by the Coral Gables Woman's Club Friday, Jan. 14 and Saturday, Jan. 15, offers such opportunity. The bazaar at 1001 Ponce de Leon Blvd. will be open Friday from 1 to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Buyers will find bargains in like-new clothing, jewelry, antiques, pictures, exotic plants and home baked goods.

An Italian spaghetti supper will be served from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday for $3. Reservations may be made by calling 221-4660 or 443-0968.

Advocate to speak

Walter Dartland, Dade County Consumer Advocate will speak at a meeting of Concerned Democrats of South Dade Tuesday, Jan. 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the home of Louise and Bruce Jeroslow, 7730 SW 76th Pl.

Scholarship luncheon

The Miami-Coral Gables Chapter of the Women's Division of the American Society for Technion will hold its Annual Scholarship Luncheon in honor of Ethel Sernaker on Thursday, Jan. 20 at noon at the Four Ambassadors Hotel, 801 S. Bridge luncheon

Coco Plum Woman's Club, 1375 Sunset Dr., Coral Gables, is sponsoring a Bridge Luncheon, Wednesday, Jan. 19, with Bridge from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and a hot lunch at noon. Fashion show

A fashion show and breakfast will be held by the Greater Miami Chapter of Federally Employed Women at Burdines, Dadeland Mall, at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 15. Art auction

The sisterhood of Temple Zion, 8000 Miller Road will sponsor an Annual Art Auction Saturday, Jan. 22 at 8 p.m. at the temple. There is no admission charge, and the public is invited.

Garden meeting

A general meeting to discuss the Metropolitan Miami Flower and Garden Show will be held at 12:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 17 at the Simpson Garden Center, Simpson Park, 55 SW 17th Rd. All garden club members and interested persons are invited to attend. The garden show will be held the first three days in April.

NASA slides

A NASA slide presentation on the future of the U.S. Space program will be presented at a meeting of the Miami Chapter of the Florida Engineering Society, Thursday, Jan. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Hampshire Inn, 9700 SW Sunset Dr.

Lady auxiliary

The Ladies Auxiliary Miami Chapter of the Florida Engineering Society will meet Tuesday, Jan. 18 at 10 a.m. at the home of Mrs. Nilda Acosta, 1614 SW 100th Ave. Bring a covered dish for the luncheon at noon.

Singles party

A dance party at the Commodores Rowing and Sailing Club, 1402 SE Bayshore Dr., will be held Saturday, Jan. 15 at 8:30 p.m. by the Young Professionals, Professionals II and A Touch of Class. Admission is $2 for members and $3 for non-members. All South Dade singles are invited.

Economics featured at Rotary

Commodity prices, producers cartels, ways to reduce foreign indebtedness and similar matters are the subject of a talk on Thursday, Jan. 13 at the Rotary Club of Coral Gables' luncheon. The guest speaker, E. Terry Jaramillo, will summarize the world economic situation, the economic problems of the developing nations and the proposals for new international order. Jaramillo, is well known in Coral Gables as the chairman of the Business Education Committee and a Director of the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce. He has worked for over a decade in local and international finance and is now a lease marketing officer for Southeast First Leasing.
