These young ladies engaged, married

Mrs. Judi Vance Miss Carol Beebee Vaught-Vance Judi Leigh Vaught and William H. Vance, Jr., were married Saturday, Jan. 8 at the Wayside Baptist Church. Judi is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lewis Vaught, Sr., of Miami. She is a graduate of Southwest Miami High School. William is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Vance, Sr., of Des Moines, Iowa. Following the ceremony, the couple will live in Des Moines. Shikan y-Green Mr. and Mrs. Walter Shikany of Coral Gables, announce the engagement of their daughter Sharon Elizabeth to Timothy Charles Green, son of Mrs. Thomas R. Green, also of Coral Gables. Sharon is a stewardess for National Airlines and Timothy is a corporation pilot for Dispatch Services, Inc. The couple plans to marry May 21. Following a wedding trip to Africa, they will reside in Miami. Beebee-Griffin Mrs. Dion Beebee of Miami, announces the engagement of her daughter Carol, to Roger Evan Griffin, son of Mr. Roger Griffin and Mrs. Georgeen Lauth of Miami. No wedding date has been set.

Give plain sandwich a zesty French twist

gourmet goodies ... marion richey We would not want to cook like master chefs every day of the week, but to cook like the French a touch of perfection is needed, and with this ingredient even the very ordinary sandwich can become a classic. Croque-au Fromage et Jambon Eight slices bread, thin and square Two cups grated swiss cheese One and a half cups heavy cream Four thin slices ham Two eggs beaten Two tablespoons butter One tablespoon flour Salt and pepper to taste Butter for sauteing Blend one and a half cups of grated cheese with half cup cream. Trim crusts from bread and spread cheese mixture over four slices, place a slice of ham on each and cover with a second slice of bread and gently but firmly pat sandwiches together. Dip in beaten egg and saute in butter until golden. Melt two tablespoons butter, add flour, stir until smooth then add remaining cream. Stir well then add half cup cheese, salt and pepper and stir till thickened and smooth. Spoon sauce over sauteed sandwiches and serve hot. * * * Petit Pains au Fromage et Jambon Split small soft rolls and remove as much of the center as possible without damaging the crusts. Make into breadcrumbs and moisten with cream, add grated cheese and minced ham, with just a half teaspoon of blue cheese. Mix well and stuff into crusts. Cover and brush with melted butter, heat in a slow oven until crisp and hot.
