Used cars offered at garage sale

A garage sale offering used cars? The Palmer School Boosters Club will have just that at their third annual garage sale. The usual oldies but goodies will include several "used but running" automobiles, a family station wagon and a sporty Caddy sedan. The event is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 15 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the corner of Old Cutler Road and 67th Avenue. All proceeds will go to the school's athletic program.

Student Play

"The Rainmaker" a three act play will be presented by the Drama Department of Miami Coral Park Senior High School. Under the direction of Betty Mae Smith, the production will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 19 and Friday, Jan. 21 at 8 p.m. in the Coral Park Senior High School Auditorium, 8865 SW 16th St. In the leading roles are Kathy Shaffer, Debbie Terry, Billy Altfielc, Cinde Hetzer, Steve Moss, Jorge Arango, Jorge Alvarez and Brian Lazar. For ticket information call the Drama Department, 226-6565. Tickets will also be available at the door.

Lonely Ranger

Snapper Creek Elementary School PTA has invited the Lollipop Theater for Children to the school and they will present "The Lonely Ranger Rides Again". The public is invited to attend and view the troupe of adult professional actors perform. They will be doing original stories, poetry, pantomime, improvisation and fables. The performance will be on Thursday, Jan. 13 at 2 p.m. and again at 3 p.m. in the school cafeteria, 10151 SW 64th St. Admission is 75 cents for adults and children.

Bee keeping

A beginners course in bee keeping will be offered at Redland Community School, 16001 SW 248th St., on Tuesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. The fee is $10 and the course runs for six weeks. To enroll call the school at 245-0311 between 1 and 10 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.

Adult Ed

It only costs six cents a day and you can attend late afternoon or night classes at Miami Senior High Adult Education Center, 2450 SW First St. There is still time to register for a wide variety of classes. The fee is $5 for 15 weeks for most courses, and senior citizens may register free of charge. For more information call 649-9800 or 642-0414.

Carnival to supply trip money

Coral Gables Senior High Schools band members and Gablettes hope to raise enough money for a trip to Italy with a four day carnival on the school grounds. The carnival will take place on Jan. 27-30 and will feature a variety of rides, including the spectacular Hiualaya, games and a country store with flea market items. The Coral Gables Band Boosters plan to use the proceeds of the carnival to send 166 band members and Gablettes on a trip to Milan, Venice, Florence and Rome, with side trips to Pompeii, Pisa and Sorrento. Band director William Ledue says the band and dance drill team will perform in such world renown places as St. Marks Square in Venice and the Piazza del Signoria in Florence. The 11-day trip will take place during the spring break.
