These Orphans to Soon Find Home

They'll soon have a home of their own, in Perrine. "They" are the dependent and orphaned children supported by St. Joseph's Villa Auxiliary of which Mrs. Homer V. Briggle, 4410 University Dr., is president. She is serving her second term. Ground was broken Monday on Franja Road, Perrine, for the building of the new Villa which will be several cottages in design. Members of the auxiliary are giving their annual luncheon and fashion show Tuesday at the Riviera Country Club. Models will be the young matrons of the auxiliary and clothes as well as furs will be shown. The Villa formerly on NW 7th Street, is now in new quarters at 170 SE 15th Rd., where 14 children and two nuns live. The auxiliary accomplished the little things many children take for granted, such as swimming in the home pool of auxiliary members, attending camp and going to the movies. This summer they provided summer camp at Camp Bosco, near Tampa for the boys; for the girls it was Sacred Heart Camp, Jacksonville. This privilege is also shared by the 17 children now in foster homes. The auxiliary has some 200 members with between 50 and 60 active members. They recently supplied a station wagon for transportation of the nuns and also taught the nuns to drive. They have helped place 200 orphans in foster homes, made 60 pairs of pajamas and 50 dozen crib sheets for the Catholic Welfare Home.

Supplies Needed

The Gables Junior Woman's Club is collecting medical supplies and blankets for Hurricane Hattie victims at Belize, British Honduras. The club, 1001 E. Ponce de Leon Blvd., is open from 9 a.m. until noon, Monday through Friday. The items will be shipped at no cost to the donor. Mrs. Marvin Wheeler is chairman of the project.
