Our Players Among Net Victors

Gableites won several spots in the Gables Junior Tennis Championships which attracted more than 100 entries last weekend at Salvador Park. Our winners were Tom Rennie of Coral Gables and Richie Peters of Miami, boys 18 and under doubles; Randy Shuert of North Miami Beach and Barbara Cook of Coral Gables, girls 15 and under doubles. Lee Langstroth of Coral Gables was defeated in the finals of boys 13 and under singles. This is the first tournament staged by the park's new pro, Jack Cook. Cook, whose daughter was among the winners, said he was particularly pleased to have the entry of Sheryl Smith of North Miami Beach, top-ranked nationally in the girls 13 and under singles. Other Gables entries were Sue Engleman, Dianne Gibson, Lauri Langstroth, Ann Roberts, Jean Langstroth, Paul Rosen, Bill Biddle. Steve Menke, Russ Langstroth, Dan Friis, Jim Heacock, Shep Johnson, Phil Jessmer, Richard Monan, Allen Burows, Bob Heacock. Mac Claflin, Marty Hershey, Bill Myers, Bruce Myers, Vince Bodgeanski, Richard Cole, Bill Monan, Mike Hamilton and Greg Sterck.
