Deaths | Martin J. Neary, 72, Army Major

Services for Maj. Martin J. Neary, 72, USA Ret., were held Saturday at St. Hugh's Catholic Church in Coconut Grove. Other military services had been held at Philbrick's Coral Gables Funeral Home Friday. Maj. Neary, who lived at 416 Garlenda Ave., died Wednesday. He came here from New York following retirement from the Army 20 years ago and was a member of Coral Gables American Legion Post 98, the Military Order of World Wars and St. Hugh's Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife, Lillian C., and a brother Peter J., of Richmond Heights, Long Island.

Mary Haas, 50, Pittsburgh Native

Services for Mrs. Mary A. Haas, 50, of 721 Biltmore Way, were held Saturday morning at the Church of the Little Flower. Other services had been held at Van Orsdel's Coral Gables Mortuary Friday night. She died Wednesday, Nov. 22. Mrs. Haas came here 20 years ago from Pittsburgh and was a member of the Church of the Little Flower and the Coral Gables Country Club. She is survived by her husband, Gilbert A. Haas, owner of the Gil Haas Insurance Co.; a son, Gilbert J., Miami; a father, Edward J. Lennon Jr.; two brothers, Edward Jr., and James, all of Miami. Two sisters, Mrs. Harry Watkins of Miami, and Mrs. Charles Puskar of Pittsburgh; and four grandchildren.

Ethel Torem, 59, Buried Friday

Mrs. Ethel Torem, 59, of 1421 Lugo Ave., was buried at Star of David Cemetery Friday following services at Gordon Funeral Home. She died Wednesday. The wife of Harry Torem, who has operated Torem's Furniture Store on Le Jeune Road and now on Ponce de Leon Boulevard, she came here 24 years ago from Paterson, N.J. Other survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Gloria Muroff, of Miami; a son, Milton, of New York; a brother Paul Levy, of New York; and six grandchildren.

Rites Today For Nancy Jordan, 22

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, (Thursday) at St. Philip's Church for Miss Nancy B. Jordan, 22, who died Wednesday. The daughter of Mrs. Julian B. Jordan, of 829 Navarre Ave., she came here 19 years ago from Long Beach, Calif. Miss Jordan was valedictorian of the 1957 graduating class at Coral Gables High, and a graduate of Wellesley College. In addition to her mother, she leaves a sister, Mrs. William A. Remers, of Pearl River, N.Y. Philbrick's Coral Gables chapel is in charge.

Dunmire's Engine Analyzer Similar to Television, Aircraft Trouble-Checkers

"The Dumont Engine Analyzer actually is an oscillograph similar to those used in television and adapted for use on automobiles," says Gilbert Dunmire, owner of Dunmire's Garage, 241 Almeria Ave., where the Analyzer is put to good use every day. The idea of one has been used for the past few years in aircraft, with the engine analyzer actually appearing as one of the controls on the flight engineer's panel." "The flight engineer spots trouble so fast that the pilot may radio ahead for the needed part, and it is waiting when the plane lands. "As for autos, this amazing engine scope tells the mechanic at a glance how all the cylinders are functioning, and points up such troubles as fouled spark plugs, broken distributor wires or defective wiring, or any defect in the ignition system. "For example, today on a missing engine, the analyzer showed the number two cylinder misfiring. I pulled the plug and found it fouled. The job was done in ten minutes. Pinpointing the trouble saved time and eliminated the need of having to disturb anything else," Dunmire explains. A check with the Dumont Engine Analyzer is only $2.00 at Dunmire's Garage. If the car is found to need repairs, you are charged only for the actual work done and not for the analysis. OTHER EQUIPMENT Other late equipment includes a 1956 model John Bean Visualiner for wheel alignment. From a mirror beside the auto wheel, two circles of light reflect on a calibrated chart, showing exactly how far the wheel is out of line. Variations from 1/8" to 4" can be registered with the highest degree of accuracy. This eliminates the need for time consuming measuring on this job. Each car is corrected to the manufacturer's specifications. A Stewart Warner Wheel Balancer also is used on wheel work. Now is the time of year many customers have their cars checked and put in safe running order. This includes a thorough safety check of brakes, wheel alignment and balance, headlight adjustment, electrical and cooling systems.
