by helen reynolds society editor Barbara Jane Cole, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. J. Kenneth Cole, 3801 Durango St., will be a debutante presented with 12 other area girls on Kings Bay Yacht and Country Club, student at The Miss Harris School, now merly in Miami. She will graduate in June. Barbara, who is a native of Coral Gables, is the only one from the Gables area in this, the first debutante presentation in the three-year-old Kings Bay club. * * * Surprise! Mrs. Mae Kirby, who recently bought a house in Coral Gables at 533 Minorca Ave. for her permanent home, was greatly surprised Nov. 19 by 14 of her women friends who gave her a house-warming party. They even brought their own sandwiches and cake. After the luncheon, Mrs. Kirby was presented a beautiful coffee maker by her surprisers. Cards and chatter took up the time until five o'clock when they left wishing Mrs. K. happiness in her new home. * * * Our Coral Gables world traveler, Camille Brigham, 1225 Obispo Ave., writes that she and her sister have toured Mexico and Guatemala for one month and are now visiting the ruins in Yucatan, Chichen Itza and Uxmal. She says they have fallen in love with a baby ocelot and wish they could take it back home with them. * * * Cynthia Brock, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Harlan Brock, 1252 Blue Rd., has returned to Florida Southern College, Lakeland, where she is a freshman. Also at Southern is Wanda Peterson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ennis Peterson, 3616 Ponce de Leon Blvd., who is a member of the freshman class. The girls were home for Thanksgiving vacation.
