by helen reynolds society editor Mrs. John Converse has a rugged constitution. She celebrated her 90th birthday Sunday and two neighbors gave parties for her. Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Henry, 6491 Miller Dr., were hosts at a luncheon, and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Stanton, 6520 Miller Rd., had a dinner party that night. Mrs. Converse resides at 6523 Miller Rd. with her son, John C. Converse, and her daughter, Miss Bertha Converse. Also here for the festive occasion was the celebrant's son, Dr. L. M. Converse, and Mrs. Converse of Pleasant Ridge, Mich. Mrs. Converse came to Coral Gables eight years ago from Detroit. She was born in Pennsylvania. * * * Master William Lumpkin Huntley III, knows more about television than most lads his age, according to his grandmother, Mrs. William L. Huntley, 725 North Greenway Dr. Hunt as he is called, celebrated his third milestone last Friday. A party with cake and all the trimmings was had for his guests at the home of his parents, the William L. Huntleys Jr., 3315 Durango St. Present were his sisters, Sara Sheryl and Charlotte Carol, also his grandmother, Kathleen.
Stationers Will Move to Valencia
When the Gables Stationers move to 272 Valencia Ave., next to the Post Office, around March 1, there will be a change to self-service. It will remain under the ownership of Sol Schreiber, who for the past 10 years has operated the office supply store. It has been located near the old Post Office, at 129 Giralda Ave., until 2 1/2 years ago when the Post Office moved. The new store will have nearly double the floor space of the former location.
Mrs. Billie Harting Is Riviera Golf Champion
Mrs. Billie Doss Harting, 1544 Murcia Ave., won the 1961 championship trophy in the Riviera Country Club's Women's Golf Association for the second year straight. She beat Mrs. George Farrell, 4 and 3, Friday in the final rounds of the three-day tournament. Mrs. W. L. Browne defeated Mrs. E. H. Foulk, 1624 SW 10th St., 3 and 2 in championship consolation. First flight match play, Mrs. R. J. Hanna defeated Mrs. C. C. Gibson on the 19th hole. Mrs. D. O. Schriner won two-up in first flight consolation; and second was Mrs. William Reid, who won over Mrs. William Simmons, 4 and 3. Mrs. Ernest J. Hewett was medalist with an 89.
