50 Observe Scout Sunday At St. Mark's

Scout Sunday will be observed Sunday in St. Mark's United Lutheran Church. George H. Scott, chairman [?] District 3 of the Scouts, will present the charter for the second year of Scouting in St. Mark's for Troop No. 229. The Chaplain, Rev. Ralph R. Bergstresser, pastor of the local church, will accept the charter. The men of the Troop Committee will be present and include John S. Ammarell Jr., [?]airman; George E. Becker, secretary; Alvin H. Gratzel, treasurer; John F. Wettig III, advancement; Lou Smiles, health & safety; Henry Danker, Carl R. Yngve and E. B. Barnett as committeemen. John B. Sullivan is the institutional representative. Scoutmaster Alfred H. Beddow and assistants Edgar J. McDougall and L. C. (Bud) Hunter and the following Scouts will be in uniform as Troop No. 229. John Beddow, Ed Danker, John Danker, Richard Danker, Jeff Evans, Lee Hunter, Axel Kairies, Hans Kairies. Edgar McDougall Bill Miller, [?]m Reitzke, Pat Sullivan, Paul Yngve. David McKinney, Garry Tillman, Don Hoover, Bob Ammarell, Burt Barnett, Gary Smiles and Steve Metzler. Cub master Donald N. Evans and the following boys of the Cub Pack will be in attendance; Eric Beddow, Ricky Clements, Jeff Gross, John Middlebrook. Robert Danker, Steve Saks, David Saks, Joe Walker, Fonny Byrd, Scott Stein. Steve Hunter, Fred Evans, Robert Hurvitz, John Kimbrough. Lee Chimerakis, George Mitchell, Richard Lee, Roy Rebello and Ladd Hoover.

AT WESTBROOKE Country Club's first dinner dance last weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Heiken, 8850 SW 18th Ter. (left) and Mr. and Mrs. Howard N. Miller, 235 Candia Ave. About 500 attended. The club is on Tamiami Trail just west of the Palmetto Bypass.

B. Hayes To Address UM Institute

The Winter Institute of The Arts will present Bartlett Hayes Jr., authority on contemporary art, as its second "artist-in-residence" at the University of Miami Feb. 19-23. He will begin the week with a public lecture at 8:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, in the Ponce de Leon Junior High School auditorium, across from the entrance to the University campus. Tickets costing $1 may be purchased at the door. With the exception of a talk to members of the Joe and Emily Lowe Art Gallery Wednesday, Feb. 21, the remainder of his visit will be devoted to informal meetings with local artists and University students. Hayes, director of the Addison Gallery of American Art at Phillips Academy, Andover, Mass., is an authority on directions and styles in contemporary painting and sculpture and frequently serves as a juror for important American and foreign art exhibitions.
