Kings Bay Yacht Club Hires Manager From CG

Robert Yoxall, for the past eight years a manager of the Coral Gables Country Club, has been named manager of the Kings Bay Yacht and Country Club. That club has 540 members. He will be accompanied by Miss Gail Sirkus, who served as secretary at the Gables Country Club for three months and will serve in a similar capacity at Kings Bay. They take over their duties April 1. New Owner, Gustave Ring, announced recently that the club will spend between $1 million and $11⁄2 million to remodel the clubhouse, finish the golf course and build the yacht basin. Yoxall had served for two years as assistant manager of the Gables Country Club before he went to the Miami Shores Country Club. He returned as manager eight years ago. Don Hoffman will serve as acting manager at Coral Gables Country Club until a new manager is named. Yoxall, a University of Miami graduate, class of 1949, replaces William Thew at Kings Bay. The Yoxalls, who have one child, live at 7565 SW 135th St. Miss Sirkus, a Miami High graduate, served as secretary in the Air Force for two and one-half years. ROBERT YOXALL

City Says Business Unfairly Using Name

An area convalescent home using the name Coral Gables is trading on the City's name, City Attorney Ted Semple argued in District Court of Appeals Tuesday. Coral Gables Convalescent Home, 7060 SW Eighth St., asked the City to show how it suffered damages. Semple cited cases involving the use by subdivisions of the name of Deering and Vizcaya in which promoters were blocked. Carol City, a north Dade subdivision, was once known as Coral City until Semple threatened to sue and the developers changed the name.
