Carl Libby Seeks Post On Board

Carl L. (Cap) Libby declared this week for the Dade County Board of Public Instruction. The Gables businessman, operator of Tropical Typewriter Service at 2135 Ponce de Leon Blvd., is making his first try for elective office in Dade. He and Mrs. Libby live at 4605 Le Jeune Rd. They have a son, who with his wife, teaches school in Connecticut. Said Libby of his candidacy, in District 3 but voted on county wide: "With over 50 per cent of the taxpayers' money being spent in the production of Dade County's most important product—educated youth—I feel that a man who has a background of newspapers, radio, real estate, insurance, law, as well as general merchandising experience might be of service. "I am vitally interested in the generation that must soon take their place in the adult world. "I decided to run for this office to find out if the people of Dade County, so many of whom have known me for the past quarter of a century, feel that my abilities will be of value to them as a member of the board of Public Instruction." Libby is active in numerous civic affairs. He graduated from Fordham University in 1926 and received his law degree there in 1929. Prior to World War II, he organized the McAllister Volunteers here and from his rank came to be known as "Cap." CARL LIBBY

FACULTY CONCERT

The Miami Conservatory will present a faculty concert Sunday, April 1 at 8:15 p.m. in the recital hall, 2973 Coral Way. Those performing on the program will be Emil Maestre, David Maddern, Roy Oliver, Rose Rosamond, Mimi Retskin, Mona Redman and Pierre Mande. There is no admission charge.

NECK PAINS
