MR. & MRS. BEARD

Mr. and Mrs. James E. Beard, 435 Bianca Ave., took a cruise to Nassau for a couple of days on the island in the Bahamas.

They'll do the "Hully-Gully" eat bar-b-que and ride on a hay wagon. "They" are the members of Midenta or wives of local dentists planning the shindig for their husbands, and guests. The party at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, the 31st, will take place at the Pine Ridge Ranch, 9440 SW 117th Ave. Mrs. James V. Cosper Jr., 4410 Anderson Rd., and Mrs. Edward V. Petrow, 5730 SW 56th St., are chairmen. Dr. William H. Fountain, 6770 SW 104th St., will play the uke for the hay ride.

Mrs. Renata Mahan, 5375 Orduna Dr., will open her home on March 28 for the annual auction of donations to the Granada Chapter, Woman's Cancer Association, University of Miami. Mrs. A. J. Lake, 546 Majorca Ave., will direct the serving of the luncheon at noon. The sale opens at 10:30 a.m. and George Radel, 5450 SW 86th St., will again be the master of ceremonies. Mrs. Harry E. Kenworthy, 731 Malaga Ave., is president of the chapter.

Linda Easton, a junior at Wellesley College, Mass., was cited as a Wellesley College Scholar March 15 during the annual Honors Day Convocation. Miss Easton is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Easton, 551 Jeronimo Drive.

Navy Lieut. (jg) John L. Madala Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Madala, 4705 Granada Blvd., is serving aboard the attack aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea in Yokosuka, Japan. The ship, operating in Far Eastern waters with the Seventh Fleet, will spend two weeks in the Japanese port.

Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Hunt, 1420 Cadiz Ave., recently entertained 125 guests at the 90th birthday party of the host. He has been coming to Coral Gables for 25 winters and also has a home and seaside estate in Wildwood, N.J. where he summers.

WARD

Army Pvt. William J. Ward III, son of Mrs. Cama T. Ward of 2022 S. Greenway Dr., has completed eight weeks of military police training at the Provost Marshal General Center, Fort Gordon, Ga. Ward completed his basic training in 1961 at Fort Jackson, S.C. He is a graduate of Rollins College and attended the University of Miami School of Law. Prior to his army duties he was a federal bankruptcy appraiser employed by the Federal District Court in Miami. WARD

Raymond W. Davies, 1414 'San Benito Ave., has been named president of the alumni club of Wheaton College, Ill., Mr. Davies is pastor of the LeJeune Presbyterian Church. The alumni club includes several from the Greater Miami area.

Army Pvt. Robert R. Swift, son of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy E. Swift, 6120 Riviera Dr., has completed the 10-week construction surveying course at the Engineer School, Fort Belvoir, Va.
