LUNCHEON PROGRAM Rotarians Prove Fashion Judges

Rotarians spent their Friday the 13th last week discussing milady's knees, or at least the fashionable aspects of them. Their program was "Feminine Fashions—Friend or Foe," conducted by Eleanor Gunby, fashion coordinator for Jordan Marsh. In addition to knees, the subject of wigs was prominent in the program. Wigs made of natural hair are expensive, said Miss Gunby, but many are now coming to market made of synthetics and at a much cheaper price. Fashions repeat themselves, she noted. During World War I, women wore dresses to the ankle. In the '20s, the knee showed again. In 1947, the style was nearly ankle-length. It's knee-top again, her model proved, when 1962 styles were mentioned. The moral, said Mrs. Gunby is that the general mood of the world seems to be reflected in fashions. The Rotarians, meeting at their Gables Country Club Luncheon, proved an appreciative audience, judging by their handclapping.
