attorney, has been named chairman of a special committee of Miami Heart Institute to create a plan for its new endowment fund. MRS. STARBIRD Mrs. Thelma Starbird, 1042 Obispo Ave., has been appointed convention chairman of the District 4, Pilot International meeting May 11 through 13 at the Seville Hotel, Miami Beach. * * * Patricia E. Moore, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel S. Moore, 928 Andres St., is one of eight Middlebury College, Vermont, juniors tapped for membership in Mortar Board, women's national honorary society. Miss Moore is a graduate of Ruston Academy, Havana, Cuba, where she won prizes in both science and sports. * * * M. Luther Mershon, Gables LUTHER MERSHON George Stone, son of Mrs. Marie Briggs Stone, 241 Aledo Ave., is one of 12 students at the University of Colorado, Boulder, Colo., awarded three-year, National Science Foundation grants for study in sciences, math, and engineering. Stone will attend Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The grants provide $1,800, the first year; $2,000 the second, and $2,200 for the third, plus dependency and travel allowances and tuition. * * * The Robert Andres of 611 Alhambra Cir. will have their daughter, Paulette, a University of Florida freshman, visiting for the Easter holidays. Paulette, 17, graduated last year from Coral Gables High. Another Andre child, Pamela, five, appeared in 'The Times' issue of March 22. Her cat suffered from a broken leg after running away from home. * * * Mary Ellen Kibby, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Kibby of 1,420 University of Colorado students on the College of Arts and Science Dean's honor list for the first semester 1961-62 at Boulder. * * * Following joint training maneuver for air and ground forces, Airman Second Class, Jack H. Johnson, son of Mrs. Raymond C. Johnson, 1453 Blue Rd., is now permanently assigned to MacDill AFB, as a radio repairman. * * * Mr. and Mrs. Albert Jacobson of 1243 Catalonia Ave. spread a dinner fare for 17 people last night (Wednesday). The occasion was the first Easter reunion of Mrs. Jacobson's family in 12 years. Among those there were her three brothers, Dr. Leon Greene of Miami, and Martin and Myron Greene of New York City. The latter two are lawyers. Myron is twice president of the New York University alumni association. Among the other guests were Mrs. Jacobson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Max Greene of Miami, and Mr. Jacobson's mother, Mrs. Esther Jacobson of Miami Beach.
