LT. MATTA Second Lieut. Richard S. Matta, a graduate of the University of Miami, won his United States Air Force pilot wings following his year-long pilot training at Laredo Air Force Base, Texas. Following training at Tinker AFB, Okla., he will be assigned to Tachikawa AB, Japan. The lieutenant's wife is the former Miss Yvonne E. Heath, daughter of the Edward Heaths, 1521 Cantoria Ave. * * * John H. Lipscomb is expected home at 937 Sunset Rd. next week following surgery at the University of Florida Hospital at Gainesville. "He's doing real well," wife Sue reported yesterday (Wednesday). She and her sister, Mrs. Thomas W. Harris of Los Angeles, who is visiting her, returned to the Gables Tuesday from a week at Gainesville with Mr. Lipscomb. * * * Mr. and Mrs. George Singer and their three children from Bedford, N.Y., are visiting Mr. Singer's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Al Singer. The children are Lauren, 9, Robbie, 7; and Meg, two. The Singers moved from the Gables in 1955. He is now a stockbroker in White Plains, N.Y., with Shields & Co. * * * Chuck Hunter, son of the George G. Hunters of 316 Candia Ave., has been elected president of the Candler School of Theology at Emory University, for the coming year. * * * Navy Ens. John T. Webb, son of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Webb, 818 Obispo Ave., has reported for duty with the Airborne Distant Early Warning (DEW) line radar network, operated from radar-equipped Super Constellation aircraft on a round-the clock basis. Ed Buckmaster of Davidson, N.C., is visiting the W. J. Bowens at 117 Aledo Ave. until the first of the month when they will return to North Carolina with him to visit their daughter, Mrs. E. M. Hicks. * * * Mr. and Mrs. Ray McCaugh-an of 2703 Alhambra Cir., have had as their house guests, this past week, Dr. and Mrs. Walter Lundahl of East Lansing, Mich. Dr. Lundahl, professor of Biology at Michigan State University, is visiting Florida universities while on sabbatical leave.
