Dressels Sell Distribution But Keep 750-Head Herd

Many Gableites found their milkman was delivering the same product in a different bottle this week as Dressel Dairies sold out to McArthur Dairies. "I'm going to continue with production of milk on a farm at Avon Park," said C. L. (Jerry) Dressel Jr., partner with his brother Richard, since after World II. Jerry Dressel is also a Gables city commissioner. Approximately 10,000 customers were affected by the switch. No sale price was revealed, but a total of 40 employes and 33 trucks changed hands. Dressel said the final papers were signed Monday. Why did the Dressels sell? "The principal reason was the cost of operation," said Dressel. "We had not been able to set aside surpluses. "It was the wisest thing to do . . . sell the whole thing while we could," Dressel added. Actually they were selling only the distribution end of the $1.5 million business. Production of 2,700 gallons of milk from 750 cows will continue at Avon Park. McArthur will buy the output and distribute it under the McArthur name.

Dutch Willard On Fascell Team

Congressman Dante B. Fascell this week announced the appointment of former Coral Gables city manager Ira (Dutch) Willard as organization chairman in his campaign for re-election to congress. Willard recently returned to the area after an absence of several months.
