Richard Schuster and Barbara Ayn Conrad have been selected for major roles in the dramatic production of Moliere's 17th Century comedy, "Tartuffe," May 9-12 at the University of Florida during the UF Fine Arts Festival. Richard is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Schuster, 1209 Obispo Ave., Barbara is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis M. Conrad, 1559 Palermo Ave. * * * Gary Stuart Galin of Detroit, a February graduate of the University of Miami will be honored today at a luncheon by the Gov. John West chapter, Daughters of the American Colonists. The party will be held in the Musicians Club of America. The DAC History Medal is being awarded for his outstanding record as a history student. Dr. Charles W. Tebeau, professor of history at UM will make the award, with Mrs. J. P. Simmons, chairman of the award committee, of the DAC's... * * * Mrs. Clifton J. Muir, vice president of the National Federation of Music Clubs, joined fellow musicians at the Coral Gables Music Club in observing national Music Week which ends Friday. Friday will be "Music in the Hospitals" with Mrs. Alec Baker in charge. This evening (Thursday) an "Evening of Music" will be given at the Ewing Gallery, 362 Minorca Ave. * * * Mrs. Theron Ames, 1212 Sorolla Ave., is the new president of the South Florida Garden Club. She was installed yesterday, with other new officers in a luncheon meeting at the Riviera Country Club. Mrs. M. G. Vaughn, 1821 Coral Gate Dr.; and Mrs. M. J. Goldstrohm, 14745 SW 83rd Pl., are recording, and corresponding secretaries, respectively. * * * Peggy Wallace, 1209 Algardi Ave.; Joanne Norman, 2612 San Domingo; and Grace Williams, 223 San Sebastian Ave., were among Indiana University students named to the Dean's honor roll and honored May 2nd at the traditional Founder's Day ceremonies. * * * Mrs. Banelle Wellman, teacher of modern languages, was elected president of the American Association of Teachers of French at the Florida Educational Association convention held last week at Miami Beach. Mrs. Wellman earned double degrees in the humanities at the University of Wisconsin, and her masters at the University of Miami. She is working toward her Ph. D. She and her husband Sidney, live at 4811 Red Road. * * * John F. Benjamin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward G. Benjamin, 625 San Lorenzo Ave., has completed a nine-week recruit training at the Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill. * * * Marjorie Herrick, violinist, and Doris Quinn, pianist, both of Ft. Lauderdale, will be the artists performing Sunday at the 4 p.m. tea and program at the Musicians Club of America. The public is invited. * * * The large garden and patio of the Riviera Drive home of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Christiansen, will be the setting Wednesday for a supper honoring Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rath, 617 Navarre Ave. The Coral Gables High School PTA is giving the party. Mr. Rath is retiring as principal of the school. * * * Floralia Arrangers Club, Chapter No. 4 whose membership is made up of nationally-known accredited flower show judges, will have an installation of new officers breakfast tomorrow (Friday) at the Riviera Country Club. Mrs. Charles McWethy, 918 Roderigo St., a past Floralia president, will install the officers. Mrs. C. M. Ballard, 731 Minorca Ave., is the first vice president. Mrs. Frank Nichols, 5901 SW 83rd Ave., is the new president. * * * Mr. and Mrs. Clifford A. Weaver, of 6810 Mindello St., have as their houseguests, Mrs. Samuel Grimes, and Mrs. Howard K. Groff of Jacksonville. * * * Mr. and Mrs. Howard Haywood of Snyder, N.Y., who have been attending a convention in Boca Raton, plan to spend a week or so visiting Mr. and Mrs. Winton M. Wright of 6825 Mindello St. * * * Mrs. C. E. Brakeslee has arrived from Du Bois, Penn., and is the house guest of her daughter, and son-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. N. J. Walter, of 7025 Mindello St. The trio will be present in Tallahassee for the graduation of Linda Walter, who has been named to Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Walter, and the granddaughter of Mrs. Blakeslee. * * * George Levie, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer S. Levie, 910 Andora Ave., has been elected a member (one of two) as Business School representatives on the Student Senate at Emory University.
