A request by Three Bays Properties No. 3, Inc., to change the name of a Coral Gables' street from Arvida Parkway to Faraway Island has been turned down by the City Commission. Three Bays, owned by millionaire ARTHUR VINING DAVIS, sought the name changed back to the name once applied to that area before it was platted. The Commission indicated it would favor a Spanish or Mediterranean area name.
Food Fair Leaving Mile; Woolworth's Gets Extra Space
Food Fair store at 164 Miracle Mile is closing down in the next two or three months, according to a chain spokesman. F. W. Woolworth store, located next door, is negotiating for the property, but L. G. Stanley, company representative, said the transaction has not been completed. Expansion would greatly increase Woolworth's space. Edward J. McBride, owner of the property, could not be reached for comment. "It will be closed," Hayes Wood, an administrative assistant for Food Fair said. Wood said the chain has plans to enlarge its other store at the corner of Ponce de Leon Boulevard and University Drive. Declining sales on Miracle Mile were cited for the change by Food Fair. Wood indicated that the chain expects to pick up the slack with expansion of their other downtown store at 3100 Ponce de Leon Blvd. Food Fair has two other stores in Coral Gables, one at 114 Ponce de Leon Blvd. and another at 1220 South Dixie Hwy.

15 years ago, this car was nothing to brag about. MONARCH MOTORS, INC.
15 years ago, this car was nothing to brag about. The early VW had its problems. It was noisy. Shifting was tough. And it wasn't exactly a powerhouse. But, its shape was functional. The rear engine made for outstanding traction. It was air-cooled. (No boiling over or freezing.) That old VW may have made a racket, but it also made every new idea work. And so, the VW people invested 15 years of time and effort into perfecting one basic model. Result: Engine noise is practically gone. The VW gearshift is one of the smoothest in the world. And you can even accelerate uphill. Over 3,000 changes have been made on the VW so far. (28 this year alone.) And all to make it work better; none to make it look different. The VW may still not be perfect. But it's a good 15 years better than the first one. MONARCH MOTORS, INC. 3650 Bird Road at U.S. #1 HI 6-0812 AUTHORIZED DEALER © 1962 VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC.
