Books Given To Library

During the past week the Coral Gables Public Library received gifts of books from Mrs. Charles G. Brand, 1025 Sevilla Ave.; John W. Congdon, 6900 SW 86th Ave.; Mrs. Darrey Davis, 1226 Algardi Ave.; Mrs. J. E. Junkin, 1332 Mendavia Ave.; William D. Simmons, 1801 SW 63rd Ct.; and Christopher G. Tyson, 1498 Sevilla Ave.

Equals Good Cartoon Sharp Eye Plus Sharp Mind

These cartoons you see are the work of a young Coral Gables artist, 18-year-old Mitchell Friedman. Mitchell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Friedman, 511 Catalonia Ave., is a senior in this year's graduating class at Coral Gables High. Much of his spare-time goes into the Youth Center, where he's worked from the ground up to become a part-time recreation leader. The cartoons are from first hand experiences. Mitchell started out keeping scores during the baseball games at the Center. Before he could become a paid employe, however, he had to volunteer one full summer's work. He's now on the Youth Center payroll, earning money for college. He plans to enroll at the University of Miami. Mitchell was born in Brooklyn in 1944, but the Friedmans have been Gables residents for the past 16 years. Mitchell Friedman ... in art, fun "Well, bring on the kids!" "I'm ready for the sprinkle party!" "This is not my idea of talent in a talent show!"
