YOUTH CENTER ACTIVITIES

The Youth Center Placement Program for teen-agers has had a good response. Teenagers as well as business people are calling to ask about this operation. Youth Center Employment service began May 28th. Teenagers 14-19 years interested in jobs should come up to the Youth Center office 400 Anastasia Ave. to fill out an application for job placement. Businessmen may call to list openings with our office for this placement service. The program is not to earn big money but to provide an opportunity for young people to learn what an employer expects from an employee, and on the job training to help these young people decide what field of employment is right for him. * * * TEENAGERS The teenagers of Coral Gables are in for a treat this summer. Special classes have been added to the Youth Center Program for this particular age group. The schedule will include guitar lessons, sculpture, and fencing lessons, bongo drums, etc. There is no fee for these classes and they will be taught by skilled instructors. Teenagers may register June 18. The program begins the week of June 25. * * * ADVANCED SCUBA Registration is open for the Advanced Scuba Diving Lessons to be given at Casa Grande Motel. The classes will be held on Wednesdays at 5:30 for teens with a fee of $12 for four lessons. Adult classes will be at 7:30 and the fee will be $16 for four lessons. * * * SWIM The Learn-To-Swim Program for June 11-22 is still open, and registration can be made by calling HI 8-2567. The 9:10 class has Spanish speaking instructors to help those children who do not speak English too well. The adult classes will begin June 19 from 7-9 p.m. and each session will run for 3 weeks.
