by helen reynolds society editor Col. Henry F. Simmonite and his bride, the former Mrs. Willa Croft, are on a honeymoon trip to Europe following their Saturday wedding at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. A close friend of the colonel's, the Rt. Rev. William L. Hargrave, officiated at the 4 p.m. ceremony and the reception followed at the new home of Col. and Mrs. Simmonite at 1032 Castile Ave. The couple plan to visit the bride's son, Charles Robinson, in England where Charles and family reside. The newlyweds will also visit all of Colonel Simmonite's World War II assignments in Europe. * * * June 6th will be a happy day for the Albert E. Harum family. They will all be in New York together to witness Albert's receiving his doctorate in law at NYU. Associate professor of Business Law at the UM since 1954, he earned his L.L.B. in 1956 at the UM, his L.L.M. in advanced study in 1959 in New York. With Julia and Al will be their sons, Albert E. Harum Jr., and wife Jean and Albert E. Harum III; and son Davidson Harum, his wife and two children. Davidson and his family had been stationed in Norway where Lieutenant Harum, with the Air Force, spent about three years. He is presently in California and wants to get back into business and reside in Coral Gables. Julia tells us they expect to do the town (N.Y. that is) and take in all the new shows. They already have made reservations for all the family for quarters in Hayden Hall, a part of the New York University dormitories. His doctoral dissertation deals with the application of Common Law principles of libel and slander to radio and TV defamation and the need for remolding and legal revaluation posed by these media. The Harums reside at 8860 SW 170th St., in Perrine. It was the kind of party women love, a garden party in the morning of a beautiful spring day when you greet your hostess in the living room, then stroll out in the garden where punch is served at small tables; coffee in the dining room. Such a party was Friday, when Mrs. Maylen Newby Pierce, a long-time resident of Coral Gables at 1129 Palermo Ave., and her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Leon Staples Pierce, greeted guests in honor of their guest, Miss Ann England of Flitwick, Bedfordshire, England, the betrothed of Maylen's son, Walter Morgan Pierce of Kingston, Jamaica and Coral Gables. Mrs. John Sullivan was there and just saying goodbye to her daughter Ruth (Mrs. Jack) Admire, who had her youngest Susan Lee. Ann is tall, slender and pretty. With her English accent, she made a hit. Receiving with them was Maylen's sister, Mrs. Tom McGee of Spartanburg.
