Deaths in the Gables

J. L. Farmer; Owned Cannery Services were held Wednesday in Philbrick's Coral Gables Chapel for J. Leroy Farmer, 69, of 6201 Granada Blvd., who died Sunday. He came here 15 years ago from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He had sold his five canning factories, a manufacturing company and three hotels before coming to Coral Gables. Mr. Farmer had been a winter visitor here from 1926 to 1935 and at one time operated a factory for canning tomatoes in Coral Gables. He was a past president of the National Canners Service bureau and he was a member of the Century Club of Coral Gables. Survivors include his wife, Catherine, and sisters, Mrs. Blanch Deyer, and Mrs. Charles Canney all of Coral Gables. Maria Morales; She was 85 Rosary service for Mrs. Maria Morales, 85, of 614 Alminar Ave., who died Wednesday was held Thursday evening at her home, with requiem mass Friday morning at the Church of the Little Flower. Mrs. Morales leaves her husband, Ambrosio del Valle; a son, Ambrosio and three daughters, Mrs. Delores Camizares, Miss Sylvia Morales and Mrs. Graciela Corujo and six grandchildren. Jack Chandler: Ad Agent Services for Jack K. Chandler, 43, of 131 SW Third St., who died Tuesday in Santurce, Puerto Rico, were held there. Surviving are his wife, Maria, a former employe of The Times; a daughter, Marlena; two sons, Jeffrey and Paul, and his father, Albert E. Chandler. He was a graduate of Southern Methodist University and a lieutnenat commander in World War II. A. F. E. Carlson; Music Leader Services for Arthur F. E. Carlson 74, 991 Le Jeune Rd., who died Friday, were held Monday in Philbrick's Coral Gables Funeral Home. A past president of the Miami Federation of Musicians, he came here 43 years ago with the original orchestra which opened at the Royal Palm Motel. Survivors include his wife, Eleian, a daughter, Mrs. Harry Benson, two sons, Arthur A. and Roger R. all of Miami, a brother, and seven grandchildren.

1st Christian Has New Lay Officers

First Christian Church, 222 Menores Ave., elected new elders, deacons and deaconesses last Sunday. They are; ELDERS, Laurence Lomax, Frank J. Bennett, Emory E. Weaver and S.A. Thayer. DEACONS, Carl W. Piel Jr.; P. J. Fenner, H. G. McDonald, E. S. Stryker and Roscoe H. Jones. DEACONESSES, Jennie Barker and Jeanne Young. The above will serve for a three-year period. First Christian also elected junior deacons, who will serve for one year. They are: Ted Piel, Dannu Houghland, Robert Houghland, Steve Piel, Ted Nicholas, Tim O'Dea, Robert Smedley, Steve Weaver. Bill Tegtman, Steve Houghland, Billy Ross, Frank Couts, David Swank, Bruce Wheeler, Mike Kowalski and Dennis Wheeler.

Hugh H. Wilson Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Wilson, of 1552 Palermo Ave., is home from the University of Florida for the summer vacation period.

Bar Mitzvah Saturday For Michael Auerbach

Michael Auerbach, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dory Auerbach, of 7001 Paradiso Ave., will be Bar Mitzvah Saturday, June 23, at Temple Beth Am. Michael who will enter the ninth grade at Ponce de Loen Junior High School in the fall, will spend the summer at a camp in Israel and with him will be his sister, Joan 11, and brother David, 8. Rabbi Baumgard will officiate, at the service, and Michael will be honored by his parents at a dinner party at the Westbrooke Country Club.

People

Children's classes in theater will begin Monday at the Gallery Playhouse taught by Mrs. Ester Brezo, an actress in American and European theater. Workshop — two hours a morning and two mornings a week are scheduled says Ester.
