Quota Club Receives Gibby Award

The Quota Club of Coral Gables, composed of business and professional women the Gibby award, established by the Hearing and Speech Center of Florida, 1540 W. Flagler St. It will be awarded annually to the person or club rendering the most meritorius service to the deaf and hard of hearing. And they are the first club to receive the award. The award is given and named in honor of Mrs. Margaret Trice (Gibby) Gibbons, now also blind, had a deaf child. Mrs. Gibbons who resides with her father, a retired realtor, at 1117 Asturia Ave., was the founder and first president of the organization in 1932, out of which grew the present center. Mrs. Kathryn Murphy, vice president of Hearing and Speech Center of Florida, made the presentation of the award, received by Betty Lunnon, service, chairman, at a Friday luncheon held June 8 at the Top 'O the Columbus Hotel.

Miss Mary Ferguson Picked by Soroptimists

The Soroptimist Club of Coral Gables observed two important events in their club life, Thursday, June 14, when they celebrated their 15th year of organization and seated their new president, Miss Mary Ferguson in dimer ceremonies at the Coral Gables Country Club. Miss Ferguson is accounting supervisor at Southern Bell Telephone Co., where she has worked for 30 years. The Soroptimist Club is made up of Coral Gables women executive and professional women in business. They support the South Florida Cleft Palate Clinic to which fund their retiring president, Helen Brood presented a check. Other new officers are Irene Morrow, and Marguerite Irwin, vice presidents; Ruth Bending and Louise Stewart, secretaries and Easter Martin Russell, treasurer. MISS FERGUSON

Albrights To Reside In Atlanta

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Franklin Albright are on an up-state wedding trip with destination, Atlanta, Ga., where they will reside. The marriage of the former Miss Margaret C. Oglesby, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Oglesby of Miami Springs and Mr. Albright, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Albright of 3425 SW 13th St., formerly of the Gables took place at 4 p.m. June 2, at the Miami Springs Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dan Iverson officiating. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a beige net over pink and white flowered silk. Her half-veil of illusion fell from a crown of the veiling and she carried white rosebuds, orchids and stephanotis bouquet. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Bone of Miami Springs were the couple's attendants. Mother of the bride wore a lace sheath over white and white orchids corsage for the wedding; the mother of the groom was in an all blue ensemble with white orchids corsage.

Paul A. Storm of Coral Gables has been accepted as a participant in the Marine Biology, Brunswick, Me. Storm, an E.T.V. Biology teacher at Coral Gables High School was one of 36 teachers selected from 760 applicants throughout the country.
