'ROUND Town

june gray woman's editor * * * Sunday night will be Asheville, N.C., night at Studio M. Playhouse where Thomas Wolfe's "Look Homeward Angel" is playing. All persons who were born there will be admitted at reduced rates. Ruth Foreman, director, says she will not require a birth certificate as proof of Asheville birth, but will believe the spoken word of every North Carolina native. * * * For the second time in history, the Junior League of Miami is having a party just for fun and not for money-making. Their 35th Anniversary Ball will be for the members' own enjoyment. The first non-money raising event was the 25th Anniversary Ball, 10 years ago. A special part of the festivities will be the playing of "The Anniversary Waltz" dedicated to the past presidents and charter members. * * * Coral Gables Junior Woman's Club is starting a book mobile to bring library books to shut-ins. Mrs. Margaret Beaton of the Coral Gables Public Library will assist Mrs. Ed Kellermann and her committee in checking out books of interest for retired shut-ins and elderly people. Anyone knowing persons in need of this service should contact Mrs. Kellermann at 310 NW 63rd Ave. * * * The Viscayans are giving an informal membership coffee party next Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock. A guided tour of the palace and gardens will follow after coffee is served. Gableites who are assisting in planning the party, are Mrs. A. F. Balzebre, 175 Morningside Dr.; Mrs. T. R. Williamson, 1002 Alfonso Ave.; and Mrs. Henry Caffee, 4315 Anderson Rd. * * * A new royal blue captured the fancy of the women who attended the Panhellenic Scholarship fashion show and luncheon last Saturday at the Dupont Plaza Hotel. Sequined royal blue cocktail dresses drew more "oohs" and "ahs" from the fashion-conscious women than any other color collection. * * * After spending an hour last Thursday listening to the members of the Riviera Women's Republican Club warmly discuss which candidates they should financially support in the coming elections, your editor concluded that too much time was wasted before the main speakers were presented. The meetings would be much shorter and much more would be accomplished if a committee was appointed to investigate the candidates thoroughly and make a report to the whole group. Then so much time would not be taken up by the various members discussing the candidates when the time comes to decide how to spend campaign funds.
