James Stephen Hawkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Estice Lawrence Hawkins Jr., 741 Tibidabo Ave., has been accepted for admission to David Lipscomb College, Nashville, for the fall quarter of 1963. He plans to major in Bible. ★ ★ ★ Jorgette Beverly Kaiser, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Herman Kaiser Jr., 1040 Andora Ave., is enrolled at Lincoln Memorial University, Harrogate, Tenn. ★ ★ ★ Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sokol, 901 Paradiso, who recently returned from a trip to Canada, were guests of honor at a cocktail party at the home of the Ron Levitts, 7890 SW 17th St., last Saturday evening. ★ ★ ★ Mrs. Guy Eads, Brownwood, Texas, is houseguest of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Griffith, 1361 Lugo. She will be staying with them through Sunday. ★ ★ ★ Mert Madden, 5311 Maggiore, president of Madden and Smith Aircraft Corp., will return home Sunday after a flying trip to California and Colorado with Mehdi Tarifdar, personal pilot to the Shah of Iran. In Los Angeles, Madden and Tarifdar met with Walter O'Malley, owner of the Dodgers baseball team, and the three flew to Colorado where they saw the UM-Air Force game. ★ ★ ★ Ray Renuart Post and Ladies Auxiliary 5781, VFW, will be host and hostess Sunday to the fifth district meeting at the post home, 45 Almeria Ave. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. ★ ★ ★ Mr. and Mrs. Arthur W. Haring are back in the Gables after their summer at Ocean City, N.J. "Any traveling while you were on the Jersey Shore this year?" we asked. "No," said Mrs. H, "this year we just stayed put!" The Harings, he's a retired mechanical engineer, live at 3914 Riviera Dr. They're originally from Philadelphia but retired here from Boston. ★ ★ ★ Two Coral Gables men have been elected to national office in the Military Order of the World Wars, at the Order's 42nd convention held last week in Washington, D.C. They are Col. Henry G. Simmonite, 1032 Castile Ave., as senior vice commander-in-chief, and Maj. Charles F. Gardner, 900 Alhambra Cir., to the General Staff. ★ ★ ★ Army Staff Sgt. Barney Adams Jr., 33, whose wife, Barbara, lives at 2416 Columbus Blvd., recently was awarded the Good Conduct Medal while assigned for duty with the Evacuation Hospital in Bad Kreuznach, Germany. Sergeant Adams, who entered the service in 1948, arrived overseas in August on his present tour of duty. SP-5 Bruce L. McDaniels, son of Mr. and Mrs. Siefert J. McDaniels, 1375 Sunset Rd., was a member of the U.S. Army Transportation Agency's softball team which recently won the Zama Area Championship in Japan.
