Secretaries To Sponsor Boy's Ranch
The Coral Gables Legal Secretaries Association are sponsoring three boys at the Flor-Sheriff's Boys Ranch in Live Oaks, Florida. The ranch cares for 42 home-less boys between the ages of three and 14. Mrs. Frances Johnson, president of CGLSA, said the secretaries will sell used pocket book editions and jewelry at their monthly meeting Nov. 28th. The money will go into fund to buy clothes and gifts for the boys' Christmas. The 13 chapters of the Legal Secretaries throughout Florida are each sponsoring three boys and some are aiding four. Members of the CGLSA are Vice-President and Treasurer, Miss Barbara Niceley, 701 Alcazar Ave.; secretary, Miss Nancy Crawford, 9560 SW 181st Ter. Miss Duane Madeira, 3366 SW 28th Ter.; Mrs. Mitzi Daly, 51 Montilla Ave. Mrs. Gertrude Hughes, 2757 SW 34th Ave.; Mrs. Florence Kimmel, 5121 Granada Blvd.; Mrs. Lorraine Knaack, 1910 SW 87th Pl.; Miss Jeane Sainthill, 131 Santillane Ave. Mrs. Ruth Adamack, 7281 SW 13th St.; Mrs. Lu Riker, 1 SW 9th St.; and Miss Rose Marie Neider, 4792 NW 2nd St.
Top Money Winners Will Clash In Gables Golf Tourney
The first batch of entries for the Coral Gables Open Invitational golf tournament was received this week from Jack Tuthill, tournament coordinator for the Professional Golfers' Association. Sixty - six professionals, including many of the top money winners of the 1961 tour, have indicated their intention to play the Biltmore on Dec. 7, 8, 9 and 10. A field of 150 is expected. The list of definite entries is headed by the winner of last year's event, Bob Goalby, and by Joe Campbell, fresh from his victory last week in the Beaumont Open. This will be the third annual renewal of the Coral Gables Open, after a 17-year layoff without top-flight professional professional golf competition on the Biltmore course. There will be a qualifying round on Monday, Dec. 4; a golf clinic and practice rounds on Tuesday, Dec. 5; the professional-amateur event, with $3,000 in prize money to the low scoring pros, on Wednesday, Dec. 6. The tournament proper is scheduled for Thursday through Sunday, December 7 to 10. The winners will divide a $20,000 pot.
