Coral Gables Congregational Church Provides Setting For Barnes Nuptials

Off on a wedding trip to Pompano Beach are Mr. and Mrs Wilton Douglas Barnes, following their Friday marriage at the Coral Gables Congregational Church. The bride, the former Barbara Joan Lenoir is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Stappler Lenoir, of 5857 Southwest 31st Street. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Douglas Barnes of 916 Mariana Ave., Coral Gables. Given in marrage by her father, the bride wore a floor length gown of white satin and lace. The fitted bodice had a boat neckline and long sleeves of the lace tapering to points at the wrist. The flowing lace skirt over the satin featured tiers of lace ruffles in the back falling into a slight train. Her voluminous veil fell from a tiara of seed pearls. She carried a bouquet of white orchids and carnations. Miss Neta Lloyd was maid of honor. Babs (Mrs. Robert) Waddle and Patsy (Mrs. Gary) Chirstena were bridesmaids. They wore identical gowns of purple chiffon over taffeta made ballerina length with full flowing skirt fitted bodice, scoop neckline and brief sleeves. They wore short white gloves and carried crescents of yellow carnations. Charles E. Daniel, brother-in-law of the groom, was best man. Ushers were William B. Lenoir of Boston, brother of the bride, Dallas Moore, Robert Lingle and Robert Waddle, all of Miami. Dr. Fred E. Cole officiated at the 8 p.m. service. The couple pledged their vows in double ring ceremonies. The reception followed in the church lounge. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Lenoir wore a ballerina length gown of royal blue satin made with semi-scoop neckline and cap sleeves, the flowing back of the dress featuring petite bows of the satin down the center back to the waistline. Her corsage was of white roses. Mother of the groom wore a brocaded beige satin sheath dress with semi scoop neckline sequined bodice and cap sleeves. The dress featured a cummerbund and graceful side drape of chiffon. Her corsage was of Tailsman roses. Among the out-of-town guests were Miss Liz Frost of Boston, friend of the bride's family and Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Lasley of Arlington Heights, Ill., close friends of the groom's family. The bride, a native born Miamian was graduated from Coral Gables High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor-ary, Future Pnsiness Leaders of America, Omega Girls Club and Student Council Cabinet. She was a Key Club sponsor and calendar girl. She received an award from the Business Women of America and was seventh in her graduating class of 850 seniors. She is presently employed by the Dade County School Board as secretary to the Supervisor of Textbooks. The groom, also a native Miamian, was graduated from Coral Gables High School where he was a member of the Key Club. Upon graduation he enlisted and served four years active duty with the United States Navy aboard the USS Forrestal which included several cruises in the Mediterranean. He is presently employed by the Florida Power and Light Co. Among prenuptial parties given for the bride was a surprise miscellaneous shower given the Thursday before the wedding by Mrs. Robert Waddle, 9775 SW 14th St. Guests were members of the two families, sorority sisters and other close friends. On Friday, Mrs. Myron J. Lewis, 7900 SW 129th Ter., gave a lingerie shower for the bride with close friends of the bride and groom attending. MRS. WILSON DOUGLAS BARNES
