Iron Arrow Taps Vice Mayor, Fire Chief
Vice Mayor Frank Kerdyk and Fire Chief Paul Matheson were among 30 area leaders and University of Miami students tapped Tuesday by Iron Arrow, highest honorary fraternity at UM. Kerdyk and Matheson were recognized by the Coral Gables City Commission Tuesday when they attended the commission meeting clad in the colorful Seminole Indian jackets. Among UM officials similarly honored were Dean of Men Ben David, Dean of Students Noble Hendrix, Supervisor of Student Publications Willis Hicks, Dr. Willis Smith, Dr. Carroll V. Truss and Custodial Maintenance Foreman Curtis P. Weaver. Hicks also had the honor of being tapped by Omicron Delta Kappa, highest men's leadership honorary. Among others tapped by ODK were Dr. William B. Munson and Prof. Carl M. Selle. Byron Scott, president of ODK, was tapped by Iron Arrow. Scott works in the UM Publicity Department.
Hillbilly Band Will Entertain At Dinner
The Miami Firemen's "Hill Billy Band" will provide entertainment for the annual Thanksgiving dinner at the Christain Church, Coral Gables, Nov. 16, at 6:30 p.m. The dinner is sponsored by the World Outreach Committee of the church. Chairmen, Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Boss, saw that the purpose of the dinner is to promote fellowship. The price for dinner will be adults, $1; children, 5-12, 75 cents; and children under 4, free.

Decorating For Yule Will Provide Program
Mrs. Jack Carrier, vice-chairman of the American Homes Department of the Coral Gables Junior Woman's Club, has arranged another in a series of workshops sponsored by her department. The Interior Decorator Workshop will be held at Richard Plummer's at 10 a.m., Nov. 16, Steve Steffin, president of the American Institute of Decorators, will conduct a tour. There will be a question and answer period while coffee is being served to members after the tour has been completed. In keepng with the idea of decorating for Christmas, there will be a program-meeting Nov. 23 at the clubhouse at 1 p.m. Theme will be "Artistic Ability in the Home". The guest speaker will be Miss Olga M. Kent, Dade County demonstration agent, who will speak on "Holiday Decorations". Miss Kent will show decorations made from our natural Florida flowers and foliage and explain how these are made. Hostesses will be Mrs. Charles Granger, chairman, American Homes Department, and Mrs. Cyrus W. Thompson, chairman, Social Department.

Steve Newmark Is Bar Mitzvah On Saturday
On Saturday, Nov. 12, at 10:30 a.m., Rabbi Morris A. Skop, spiritual leader of Temple Judea, and Cantor Herman K. Gottlieb, will officiate at the Bar Mitzvah of Steven Newmark, son of Mr. and Mrs. Irving Newmark, 3701 Riviera Dr., at the Temple during the Torah service. Steven is a graduate of the Hebrew School of the Temple and has been a membr of the Sunday School for the past five years when his family first moved to this area. He is an eighth grade student at Ponce de Leon Junior High School. Out-of-town guests for the Bar Mitzvah will include Mr. and Mrs. Harry Nanus; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hirsh; Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Nanus; Mrs. A. Isaacson; Mr. and Mrs. Saul Slan and Mrs. Dorothy Friedman of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Al Saffer of Flushing, N. First Methodist Will Square Dance
The First Methodist Church of Coral Gables will hold a square dance at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, in Fellowship Hall. Refreshments will be served. On the following Saturday, Nov. 19, members will go "western". There will be a hayride and cookout at the Circle B Ranch, from 6:30 to 10 p.m.
Religion In America Is Subject At Temple
"Religion in America" will be the subject of the Sabbath sermon by Rabbi B. Leon Hurwitz on "The Larger Fellowship". The services will begin at 8:15 p.m., Friday, Nov. 11, at Temple Zamora, Coral Gables. On Saturday, Nov. 12, services will begin at 8:45 a.m. The junior congregation will meet at 10 a.m. Temple Zamoras Adult Education classes meet on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 and on Wednesday evenings at 8:30.
