Spanish style home caters to needs of the children
By ANA MARIA ALVAREZ Staff Writer When David and Kathleen Plummer first moved to Dade County from Chicago, they chose Coral Gables because it was so close to Plummer's office, a consulting engineering firm. Now, after four years, that decision has proven to be more convenient than they had anticipated. "We really love it here. My husband is five minutes away from the office and the children are within walking distance to the Youth Center, and can ride their bikes to school and the library," said Mrs. Plummer. The older, Spanish-style home surrounded by beautiful trees and shrubs caters to the needs of their children, said Mrs. Plummer. "With three boys and one girl, there is always a lot of activity in the house. Our home is for the children," she said. That is one of the reasons why the Plummers are planning several additions to their home. "The kids are older now and we are outgrowing the house," said the young, petite, mother of four. Behind the existing family room, construction of a large Florida room has already begun. A more spacious dining room is also under construction next to the kitchen. The existing family room will be converted into a library and game room. When all the additions have been completed, Tim, 11, and Dan, 10, will be moving to their "own pad," as Mrs. Plummer jokingly says.
