flying fisherman Seas choppy, wind brisk but fish will be biting
Gusty winds and choppy water might make it difficult for the small boat operator to venture off shore this weekend but if you can get out, fishing will be good for sailfish, dolphin, kings and trout. South Dade Good trout action on the grassbeds of Barnes Sound in the vicinity of the radar dome. There is also some activity reported in Blackwater Sound and Blackwater Pass with a few snook and small snapper at night. Biscayne Bay Excellent trout action on the grassbeds off Mercy and Mt. Sinai Hospitals around the Nixon compound and on the west side of the bay from Dinner Key to the Cutler Ridge power plant. Drift fish with live shrimp and a popping cork until you find a school, then drop anchor and use a little chum. Excellent bonefish on the flats from Stiltsville through Elliott's Key, on jigs tipped with shrimp. Keys Generally slow. Scattered sail, dolphin, tuna, bonita and amberjack. Bottom fishing is productive for red, mutton and yellowtail snapper. There are a few trout and tarpon in the back country. Miami Good sailfish and large shark close to the edge of the blue, live baiting with kites. Some white and blue marlin sighted. Troll at least one large bait for best results. Excellent dolphin, mostly schoolies, from the edge of the blue on out on trolled fresh ballyhoo, feathers or strip baits. Look for weed patches, weed lines, working birds, floating debris or a distinct rip for best results. Remember to use small pieces of cut bait or chum to excite a school into a feeding frenzy. Once into a school leave one hooked fish in the water awhile to hold the school to your boat. Kingfish are spawning resulting in excellent catches over the offshore reefs in 50-100 feet. Trolling wire lines spoons or deep jigging with whole ballyhoo will give best results. Some wahoo action also reported. Bottom fishing is fair for snapper and grouper in 80-150 feet of water, drift fishing with whole or cut bait. Better action at night especially for kings and yellowtail. Wreck fishing is very productive for amberjack, 30-40 pounds, fishing deep.
He keeps letters of praise
From Page 26 others, commending the device's effectiveness. He keeps the letters in a black spiral notebook. Eight-year-old Tommy, seeing that his father kept something important in that notebook, figured he ought to write a letter too. He wrote, "Dear Dad, I think your invention is great. It helps a lot of base-ball players, including me."
