Jason Davis, 4, of 1500 SW 90th Ave., was named national Junior Boys' King at the Galaxy Pageant held in Cypress Gardens on April 22 to 25. Jason, the son of James and Pat Davis, is being crowned by Kendall's Sylvia Hitchcock, a former Miss Universe.

Parking warnings will be issued
Drivers using parking spaces in Coral Gables marked as reserved for handicapped drivers will recieve a warning notice on their cars. The notice, suggested by the city's Handicapped Advisory and approved for a 60-day trial period by the City Commission on Tuesday, May 11, is modeled after one already in use in Miami Shores. The notice will go on vehicles parking in the designated spaces without proper identification which includes a disabled vehicle license tag, a physically handicapped license tag, a window sticker for the handicapped issued by Metro or the international handicapped bumper sticker (a line drawing of a figure in a wheelchair). The warning notice tells drivers "this specially-marked parking space is reserved by law for automobile drivers who are physically handicapped." The notice points out the identifying emblems on a qualified driver's vehicle and states, "You have violated the law by parking in this space, and therefore you have subjected yourself to possible fines and tow away charges." "We are offering you this friendly warning because we feel that you do not realize how you may have deprived a handicapped person of his right to park here, and that the disabled driver might be forced to park a block or more away." The notice ends with a telling message: "Be thankful that you can walk."
