First Game

First game of the Little League season is Tuesday. Doing battle will be the Gables Jaycees and Lowry Electric teams. Game time is 5:30 p.m. at the Youth Center. The Times will carry league standings during the season.

WITH A SHOW OF FIERCE determination, Harold Cole, 529 Catalonia Ave., takes a mighty swing at the ball. The result was a grounder past shortstop into left field. Cole is one of many Gables' Little Leaguers who'll be taking their licks at the plate when May 9 rolls around. That's the day the umpire yells "Play Ball." Staff photo by Raymond Lang.

SEARLE GOING

The Coral Gables City Commission Tuesday okayed a move to join the United States Conference of Mayors. Mayor Robert L. Searle will represent the city when the organization meets in Washington, D.C., June 1.
