53 Gables Children in Swimming Program

(See related story, page 14) Fifty-three Coral Gables children are among the nearly 400 who took swimming lessons this summer through the Southwest YMCA program. The climax of the training occurs Saturday evening with a water ballet pageant at the home pool of Mr. and Mrs. Norman F. LeFevre, 6820 SW 126th Terr. The public is invited. Showings will be held at 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Because the Southwest Y has no pool of its own, home owners in the Southwest made theirs available. Y Classes Used Six CG Pools

Six Coral Gables couples were among the 29 who made their home pools available for the Southwest YMCA's summer swimming program, concluding this week after teaching 400 children. They are Dr. W. Sterry Branning and his wife, Dr. Bowman Branning, 2200 Segovia Cir.; Dr. and Mrs. H. H. Burkart, 1041 Andalusia Ave.; Mr. and Mrs. M. Frank Junger, 3807 Durango Ave. Mr. and Mrs. Edward T. J. Parkinson, 741 N. Greenway Dr.; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Pomerantz, 1121 Manati Ave.; [?] and Mrs. George Baum, Veterans Hospital pool. In addition, some of the instructional staff was from the Gables. They are Miss Rosemary Lee, aquatic director for the Southwest Y, 225 Alesio Ave.; her sister, Elizabeth Lee; Jacques Junger, 3801 Durango Ave.; and Mrs. Robert M. Eller, 2630 Natoma Ave.

You're invited to the Southwest YMCA's First Annual Water Carnival which will be staged at three different pools during the day and evening on Saturday.
