Judy Gretner, Larry Stowe Wed at Riverside Baptist

MRS. LARRY STOWE | Mr. and Mrs. John Grant Gretner, of 742 Paradiso Ave., announce the marriage of their daughter, Judith Ann, to Larry Baxter Stowe, son of Mr. and Mrs. John G. Stowe of Monroe, Ga. The wedding took place at 8 p.m. Saturday in Riverside Baptist Church with Dr. James W. Parrish officiating at the double ring candlelight ceremony. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a princess line gown of peau de soie featuring a scooped neckline and point-on-hand sleeves etched in seed pearls and sequins. The full skirt was softly draped to the back and formed a chapel train. Her voluminous veil of French illusion fell from a crown of lace and seed pearls, and she carried white Phalaenopsis orchids centered with two purple throated orchids. The bride's five attendants wore gowns of silk violet taffeta made ballerina-length, featuring portrait neckline and brief sleeves, well-molded bodice and bell-shaped skirts. They wore matching head bows and carried cascades of pale lavender mums, baby's breath and lavender Vanda orchids. They were Miss Sandra Hunter, maid of honor; Mrs. John Medlin, matron of honor; and bridesmaids Judy Cooper, Marion Ezell, and Carolyn Arend all of Coral Gables. John Henry Stowe, of Monroe, brother of the groom, was best man. Ushers were Walt Mosley, West Palm Beach; Ronald Medlin, Jim Dawson of St. Petersburg, Victor Fuckett of Suwanee, Ga.; Douglas Huff of Monroe; and Ed Eubanks of Deland. The reception followed at the Riviera Country Club. The mother of the bride, who greeted guests at the reception, wore a pale pink sheath dress of peau de soie with bodice of reembroidered Alencon lace. Her accessories matched and she carried a handbag with corsage of pink sweetheart roses. The groom's mother wore a pale blue sheath dress of draped chiffon with matching accessories and a white orchid corsage. Susan Worley, Jo Ann Hendricks, Lynn Grentner, and Mrs. Robert Hendricks served cake at the reception and Natalie McGaw, Barbara Fisher, Patty Roland, and Caroline Wahlstad kept the bride's books. The bride was graduated from Coral Gables High School and Stetson University, where she joined Pi Beta Phi sorority. The groom graduated from Monroe High School and Stetson University, where he joined Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.

What a thrill it is to get "something for nothing" - for a little while anyway - until the awful truth begins to dawn. The bright promise begins to tarnish - and we are left with such a hollow feeling. "Something for nothing" is usually worth just that much . . . nothing!
