Allied Youth to Meet in CG; Clubs Select New Officers

By LEE SANDLER Correspondent Allied Youth will hold its first meeting of the school year Sept. 27 in the chapel of the Coral Gables Methodist Church. The organization, whose membership exceeded 200 last year, will hear guest speaker Robert D. Korner of the City Zoning Board. New officers for the year are: Linda King, president; Ann Peck, vice president; Rusti Hausman, second vice president. Carol King, third vice president; Manuel Gonzalez, treasurer; Bebe Parker, recording secretary; Flo Clarke, corresponding secretary; and Rusty Barefield, chaplain. SISTER DUO The sister twirling duo of Joyce and Sue Morrill will be featured during half-time shows by the Cavalier Majorettes. Cooky Winchester will serve as head majorette. Other new members of the baton team are Nadine Wagenheim, Marion Pitman, and Marlene Ehrlick. NEW OFFICERS Thespians, drama honorary, has announced the officers for his year. They are Donna Schiller, president; Betsy Palrick, vice president; Fran Jackson, treasurer. Denise Most and Susan Nolan, secretaries; Kathy Kurtz, chaplain; Joe Melly, sergeant-at-arms; and Lynn Smith historian. New Spanish National Honor Society officers are Mary Jo Malice, president; Judy Fuller, vice president; Betsy Warren, secretary; and Helen Motion, historian. Quill and Scroll, the inter-national journalism honorary, elected new officers last week. Those serving are Rusti Hausman, president; Lee Sandler, vice president; Linda King, secretary; and Bebe Parker, treasurer. LIST LEADERS The two Hi-Y chapters at Coral Gables High have also selected their executive boards for the new year. Rebel Chapter officers are George McLain, president; Dave Buckner, vice president; Les Medlin, secretary; Steve Seymour, treasurer; and Craig DeCamps, chaplain. Dirigimus Chapter officers are Denny Erickson president; Hosmer Compton, vice president; Allan Pither, treasurer. Eric Holt, recording secretary; Arthur Charlesworth, corresponding secretary; Bill Christianson, parliamentarian; and Louis Carrasco, historian. The Modern Music Masters has elected its new executive board. The officers include Bill Brown, president; Vivien Benitez, vice president; Mary Lou Arroyo, secretary; and Kathy Ekomomou, treasurer. The choral department has also selected the section leaders for concert chorus. These students serve on the board and help to keep order. Those serving are soprano section, Alice Moore; alto, Audrey Arroyo; tenor, Robert Warren; and bass, Jim Peeples.

Jr. Women Plan Fete For Friday

The Coral Gables Junior Woman's Club members will launch its fall season with a "Kool Kocktail Kickoff" tomorrow (Friday) at the Coral Gables Country Club. The hours are from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Mrs. Albert Hutchinson, chairman, says the party is the first big get-together (after the long summer vacation) and is a fund-raising project. Mrs. Frank Guilford is taking reservations.

Women to Hear Dr. R. B. Lawson

Dr. Robert B. Lawson, dean of the Medical School, University of Miami, will be the guest speaker today, when the UM Medical Faculty Wives Club meets. Mrs. Robert Lawson, 5500 Banyon Dr., will be hostess for the 10 a.m. meeting, the first for this group and the theme is "Greetings and Suggestions for the Year Ahead."
