Building on Mile Tops Permit
A $150,000 permit for a two-story addition to a Miracle Mile building boosted last week's building total to $265,262. The second and third story additions will be to the Surrey's store building at the northeast corner of Miracle Mile and Salzedo St., owned by the Elveeay Corp. Other permits went to Wayne Withers, 1104 Hardee Rd., pool and fence, $2,560. A. Maloff, 4580 SW Eighth St., alterations, $6,000. Mrs. Clara M. Landers, 3110 Segovia Blvd., addition, $3,600. Ruba W. Ed Burris Heads Group
The Miracle Mile Toastmasters club, charted in February of this year, elected Ed Burris, as its president last Thursday in its president recently ing held at the Coral Gables Elks Club, 22 Giralda Ave. Also elected for a one year term were: Fred Matthews, vice president; Ted Gibson, membership vice president; Charles Denkert, secretary, Joe Myrtetus, treasurer, and Albert Farkas, sergeant-at-arms. The new club has 28 active members.
Realty Transfers Still Trail 1960
Realty transfers are running approximately $1 million behind last year, according to the Coral Gables Board of Realtors. Transfers through August total $12,486,345 compared to $13,582,945 for the same nine-month period last year. The August total of $1,953,050 included 44 single-family residences, $1,267,750; three multiple-family residences, $84,500; three commercial buildings, $109,900; and 60 lots, $490,900.
Bonds Stolen
A reported $2,000 in U.S. government Series E bonds and other items were stolen from the home of Alvin A. Vaughan, 801 Valencia Ave., Tuesday night. Entry was gained through the garage.
Guild Bunco Party
The St. Thomas Ladies Guil will hold a free bunco party at 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, at the South Miami Chamber of Commerce Building. Prizes will be awarded. Prospective guild members are invited.
