Sales Clinic Aims For 2nd Session

Salesmen learned all about "The Customer" at this morning's (Thursday) Sales Clinic at the Miracle Mile Theater. It was the first of a series of four sessions sponsored by the Retail Merchants Division. Next session will be held next Wednesday, Sept. 27. Title will be "The Body of the Sale." Two more Wednesday sessions will follow, one on Oct. 4, "The Voice of Your Business," and on Oct. 11 Trading Up and Suggestion Selling, and "Closing the Sale."

They Meet, Meet, Meet

The City Commission expects to be busy, busy in the next few months following its recent vacation. Monday evening conference meetings beginning at 6 o'clock began this week and will be held indefinitely. The commission is also scheduled to meet at 2 p.m. preceding the regular 3 p.m. Commission meeting to discuss the agenda. Commissioners also discussed the possibility of moving up the commission meetings to 2 p.m. to allow more afternoon time for city business.

Monitor Combines

Monitor Furniture Inc. has consolidated its two stores into one unit at 53 Merrick Way, Coral Gables. Jay Tuxsfords, who owns the store with his wife, Arlene, said the reason for the consolidation was to centralize their operation closer in the Gables. The other store was located in Perrine at 17920 South Dixie Hwy. The Tuxsfords, who have five children going to local schools, live at 6945 Veronese St.

Theatre Opening Slated Tomorrow

Gables High student Betsy Patrick plays the lead role in the Merry Go Round Playhouse's "Cinderella" which opens Friday. The children's theater, directed by Ivan Kivitt, is located at 110 Aragon Ave.

Poles Apart

University Cab got another year's extension on their "telephone pole" radio antenna, but they'll have to pretty it up. The year-to year approval came on a 3-0 vote, with Mayor Robert L. Searle abstaining and Commissioner Franklin Evans out of the room when the vote came. Located off Salzedo St. between Alhambra Circle and Alcazar Ave., the wooden pole will have to be certified safe annually.
