FREDA WOLF
Freda Wolf, daughter of Mrs. Julian Voloshin and the late Fred Wolf, 528 Sevilla Ave., will enter Barnard College as a member of the freshman class. She was active on the yearbook and newspaper staff at the American School, Lugano, Switzerland. ★ ★ ★ Mrs. Margaret Jacobson, long-time familiar figure in her office in the corner of the old Times building, Salzedo at Aragon, is nursing her second broken leg. She spent 21⁄2 days in Doctor's Hospital where Dr. A. H. Weiland set the bone and is now at home on Biltmore Way. How did it happen? Mrs. J. caught her heel in the sidewalk leading from her apartment. We called on Mrs. J. Sunday afternoon, found her, her old peppy self, laughing — with two visitors. She was in a hospital bed with one of those trapeze arrangements. She said, "See I can pull myself up." She immediately demonstrated. When we offered cheer in her distress, she cracked, "No more hips to break," so don't feel sorry for me. She broke her other hip last year. ★ ★ ★ Mary Norman, armed with a Merit Fee Remission Scholarship is off to Indiana University, Bloomington, Ind. She is the daughter of the T. E. Normans, 2612 San Domingo St. ★ ★ ★ It was crumpets, but no tea, that Mona Fondren brought us Saturday. Seems the English cookies were sent by Gary, son of Mr. and Mrs. Courtney Fondren, 614 Altara Ave., who is traveling in Europe representing an American insurance company. ★ ★ ★ Katherine Hood Swenson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward F. Swenson Jr., 21 Casuarina Ct., is a freshman at Smith College, Northampton, Mass. ★ ★ ★ Judge and Mrs. Ralph O. Cullen, 3405 Banos Ct., found North Carolina extremely hot. They have just returned from Chapel Hill, after taking their daughter, Sarah, to enter her junior year at the University of North Carolina. Sarah, Mrs. Cullen said, writes she is on the third floor of a women's dorm sharing a three-in-one-room. They are that crowded by UNC's largest enrollment in it's history. She is majoring in education and is a transfer from University of Georgia where she spent her first two years. ★ ★ ★ Mrs. Homer Stone, 1322 Milan Ave., spent one day Friday in Bimini and says it's the grandest way to rest. ★ ★ ★ Mrs. Juliet Clark, 712 Zamora Ave. has returned from a visit to Murfreesboro, Tenn., to visit Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Brandon Jr. Mrs. Brandon is Mrs. Clark's daughter, the former Miss Nancy Clark, 1958 Gables High graduate. The Brandons have a 14-months old son. The father teaches school. Mrs. Clark has been at the VA Hospital here for 10 years, working in the assistant manager's office. ★ ★ ★ Mr. and Mrs. Red Nelson, 3281 SW 16th Ter., have returned from a see-South Florida trip with their 13-year-old daughter, Sylvia. Sylvia, who is an eighth grader at Shenandoah, reports her favorite was Edison's home and laboratory at Ft. Myers and that it was a thrill to be at Cape Canaveral the day the announcement of its award of the Nova moon shoot project. ★ ★ ★ Mrs. E. G. Livesay, 335 Maderia Ave., entertained at a luncheon Thursday at the Country Club of Coral Gables. Guest of honor was Mrs. J. Rex Scholl of St. Petersburg, where Mrs. Livesay resided before coming to the Gables many years ago. Also renewing friendships at the party were Mrs. T. T. Scott of N. Venetian Dr., Mrs. Estes Wood, Miss Katherine Kittinger, and Mrs. Georgia Jennings.

"GEMS and FACETS" as presented by Mr. CARROLL
TV Lecturer, Gemstone and Diamond Authority, Member American Gem Society "Quotes" from recent TV shows "Price Tags" for Sale — CHEAP! Whenever I hear of the "half-price" bargains people are always talking about it gives me a big charge. For so many years ago I hate to think of it — this system was a sure fire fooler. Put a big enough ticket on it in the first place and "half price" will bring an outlandish profit. Honest merchants and the Federal Trade Commission are trying to do something about it. But you've still got to be careful. You can depend upon Carroll's JEWELERS MIRACLE MILE near LeJeune Rd. • Coral Gables
VIRGINIA MRS. POTTER

They are back this week in their Coral Gables home.

from this corner of our world... STUARTS KANTER'S dancer's corner...
a salute to the dance teachers of our city! Our hats are off to those gallant people who carefully, patiently teach our children not just dance steps, but the rudiments of poise and social grace. Any mother who's watched an awkward duckling transformed into a graceful swan under such a teacher will join in this tribute. If your young one hasn't started to dance yet, if you haven't fully investigated the ways in which dance can help achieve self-confidence, why not stop at our Capezio Dancer's Corner? We have lots of information on dance, a list of teachers in your area, PLUS a complete line of dance footwear and accessories by Capezio, the Dancer's Cobbler since 1887.
