Giblin Case Drags On Before Court

Coral Gables City Attorney Ted Semple will argue the city's right to try former Circuit Court Judge Vincent Giblin on charges resulting from the famous traffic incident on Oct. 11 before the Florida Supreme Court. A lower court decision held that Giblin was on his way to court at the time his wife was arrested for speeding and should not have been detained by city police. The Jan. 23, 1959 incident has resulted in several law suits by the Giblins, one of which resulted in a $34,000 judgment against the city to Mrs. Giblin. The case is also under appeal by the city.

Falls Asleep, rams Auto On Ponce

A 23-year-old man who fell asleep while driving along Ponce de Leon Boulevard Tuesday morning is reported in "fair" condition at Doctors' Hospital. William H. Thompson, of 5883 SW 42nd St., suffered a deep head cut and other injuries when his station wagon smashed into a parked car at 3415 Ponce de Leon Blvd. According to Officer Glenn D. Arp, Thompson fell asleep shortly after 6:30 a.m. and struck the car, owned by Dorothy Copeland at that address. The Copeland car was knocked 248 feet forward by the impact, Arp said. It sustained $300 damage, while the station wagon had $600 estimated damage.

There's No Guesswork At Dunmire's Garage

Dunmire's Garage at 241 Almeria Ave. has the latest equipment for automotive repair and offers the personal services of Gilbert Dunmire, owner and mechanic. This garage is a familiar site to many with its neat office and well planned working service department. Convenient off-street parking away from traffic but close to downtown shops are some of the conveniences offered. Gil, a progressive man believes in employing modern equipment for today's modern cars. He keeps abreast of advances in auto repair. Gil has attended many schools and is a graduate trainee of the Carter Carburetor School, the Sun Electric Training School and the Modern Tune-up course at Lindsey Hopkins School. Typical of his up-to-date equipment is the DuMont Electronic Engine Analyzer checking the power plant of your car. This machine pin-points ignition trouble exactly in a matter of minutes saving many dollars on labor repair bills and best of all eliminates all trial and error analysis. Fouled plugs, the early stages of points burning and improper point settings are immediately recognizable. The cost for this amazing analysis is a low $2.00. Engine tune-up charges vary with cars and the work required. After the tune-up, the Analyzer once again is attached to the engine to assure the accuracy of the adjustments. Other late equipment includes a 1956 model John Bean Visualiner for wheel alignment. From a mirror beside the auto wheel, two circles of light reflect on a calibrated chart, showing exactly how far the wheel is out of line. Variations from 1/8" to 4" can be registered with the highest degree of accuracy. This eliminates the need for time consuming measuring on this job. Each car is corrected to the manufacturer's specifications. A Stewart Warner Wheel Balancer also is used on wheel work. Now is the time of year many customers have their cars checked and put in safe running order. This includes a thorough safety check of brakes, wheel alignment and balance, headlight adjustment, electrical and cooling systems. Also, Gil will bring to your attention anything that might cause trouble to your car. "... we like our customers to come completely satisfied and say, 'Their car ran fine.'" The integrity and quality of the work done at Dunmire's Garage has brought him an extensive clientele of women who, with no men in the family to advise them, depend upon Dunmire to keep their cars in perfect running order. He takes great pride in the confidence placed in him. So bring your car in and have a "Dunmire's Safety Preventive Checkup." Dunmire's Garage is open Monday through Friday 8:00-5:30 and Saturday till noon. Call HI 6-9416 for an appointment that will put your car in running order now and for that trip you plan to take in the future. Remember, "There's no guesswork at Dunmire's."

TRAVEL REPORTER By Bill Mason

QUESTION: Would you recommend that everyone buy their transportation tickets from your office? ANSWER: Not necessarily. There may be times when it would be more convenient to buy a ticket from the carrier itself. While we can and will do this for you, it is sometimes a matter of personal preference.
