PONCE WINS

Ponce de Leon Junior High ninth grade won a squeaker, 14-13, when it whipped South Miami Junior High in the Ponce gym. The varisty is coached by Dick Artmire. Team members are Jeff Leigh, 5211 Granada Blvd.; Doug Waring, 1601 Casilla St.; Richard Dominque, 432 Como Ave.; David Sandler, 1400 Sorolla Ave. Ramon Perez, 3500 Riviera Dr.; John Moran, 7510 SW 52nd Ct.; Bill Compton, 1101 Sorolla Ave.; Steve Russell, 4476 SW 14th St.; Alfonso Cueto, 4023 SW 10th St. Jose Herrera, 625 Candia Ave.; Brooks Prewitt, 768 Alhambra Cir.; Roberto Romas, 4000 Monserrate St.; and Benjamin Turner, 2310 Granada Blvd.

STRETCHING to get that rebound under Ponce's basket while surrounded by opposition players is Richard Dominque (center figure) who put on a one-man performance in the season opener.

GOING UP for a two-pointer as an opposing player thrusts a hand in his face is Ponceman Alfonso Cueto. Behind him is team mate Doug Waring.

WATCHING THEIR TEAM go to victory are these Ponce girls. From left are Dorothy Daniels, 3235 Mary St., Coconut Grove; Marilyn Kelly, 2990 Jackson Ave.; and Trina Budner, 3190 Oak Ave. Later, these seemingly pensive expressions changed to glee when Ponce won.
