Robert B. Bingham Jr., son of Mrs. Marge E. Gingham, 242 Madeira Ave., and the late Mr. Bingham, recently participated in Exercise Main Barge, a V Corps field training in central Germany. The exercise involved some 28,000 troops. He is a 1960 graduate of Miami High. Bob's wife Aurora is with him in Germany. ★ ★ ★ Marine Raymond C. Bouquio Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Bouquio, 1215 Castile Ave., won the rifle record at Camp Le Jeune, N.C. Nov. 27 by firing the new M-14 rifle. ★ ★ ★ Mrs. Everett Smith of 1526 Trevino Ave. won the summer shuffle board tournament at the Coral Gables Friendship Club at Salvadore Park. Runner-up was Carl Faul of 230 Aledo Ave. The second tourney will be held during the winter. The trophy, a silver tray, must be won twice by a winner in order to gain permanent possession. ★ ★ ★ The married children of Mr. and Mrs. Max Drosd, 312 Aledo Ave., will honor the couple on their golden wedding anniversary Sunday. The party, a cocktail-dinner, will be held at the diLido Hotel. Mrs. Harold Barkowitz, a daughter of Aledo Ave., is arranging the party. From out of town will be two daughters and husbands, Mr. and Mrs. Mort Ruden of Cleveland, Ohio and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Poisky, of St. Louis. Ten-year-old grand daughter, Michelle Barkowitz, will play the accordion at the party in honor of her grandparents. ★ ★ ★ Mentally retarded children will benefit from the Hi-Neighbor Club's Christmas program held Tuesday at the Riviera Country Club. Dr. John Presley, director of the S.M.R.C. told of the work that has been accomplished. ★ ★ ★ Mrs. H. I. Marshall, 1026 Hardee Rd., was the hostess Tuesday, for the annual Christmas party of the Laramore-Rader Poetry Group of which she is the 1961-62 Parliamentarian. ★ ★ ★ Barbara Brock Rabe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert E. Rabe, 435 Castania Ave., who graduated with honors and a scholarship at Coral Gables High School, is now a nurse in the Jefferson Davis Hospital, Houston, Texas. Barbara will spend the holidays with her parents. She speaks Portuguese and Spanish. Her parents lived aboard for 20 years, where her father's work as an engineer took them. Barbara entered kindergarten in Brazil; took her first two years of high school in Cuba, and has nothing but praise for her instructors and her last two years at Coral Gables High School. ★ ★ ★ Mr. and Mrs. J. R. (Jack Levan, formerly of 1527 Certosa Ave., are now residing in Atlanta. Their daughter, Vicki, a student at Florida State University plans to visit Coral Gables friends during the holidays. ★ ★ ★ Coral Gables Country Clubbers will hail each other over a cup of eggnog from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, at the club. ★ ★ ★ Mrs. Samuel Elinoff, 611 Catalonia Ave., and Mrs. Jess Spirer, 612 Catalonia Ave., are taking reservations for the members of Alpha Epsilon/Phi alumnae association's annual holiday bruncheon Wednesday, Dec. 27 at the Algiers Hotel. Mrs. Morris Levitt is president of the association. ★ ★ ★ Joe C. Morris, Mrs. Morris and their daughter Pam left Wednesday for Louisville, Ky., to spend the Christmas holidays. Joe Jr. will join them Saturday. He is returning to Florida Southern College, Lakeland, in February, where he will be a senior. ★ ★ ★ The Coral Gables Welcome Wagon Club members will enjoy their Christmas party at Miami Springs Villas, where they will present a play, "It's Beginning to Look Like Christmas." Mrs. J. A. Stefenga, 830 Catalonia ave., is chairman. "Operation Circle" is what Mr. and Mrs. Jack Pressley, former Gables residents, call their return to Florida. In the past six years they have been as far as the California coast, Texas, New York and points on the Florida coast. Jack has been made manager of a state wide food firm and is being sent to Miami in January. Presently in Tampa, their son, Milton, will finish his freshman year at the University of South Florida.
