Gablegrams

by helen reynolds society editor The Junior Assembly, made up of teenage boys in the Greater Miami area, will honor their parents and dates Friday at a party from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Surf Club. Jerome Twitchell's orchestra will play for dancing and there will be a danceable stag line of J. A. boys to keep the assembly line of girls twirling on the dance floor. These "stags" will be identified by the striking red and white holiday striped vests they will be wearing. The vests were made by Mrs. William H. Walker Jr., of 444 NE 96th St., member of the executive committee. Mr. Walker, incidentally, is a member of the Century Club of Coral Gables. Other members of the executive committee residing in Coral Gables and South Miami are Mrs. Elder Cornell, Mrs. Melbourne Martin, Mrs. Moragne Whitney and Mrs. Ernest Winton. ★ ★ ★ The Russ Scofields of 1248 Alhambra Cir. (he's advertising director at The Miami News) will spend Christmas Day with their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Price in Atlanta. Joining them there will be their other daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Baughman. Mr. S. is the retiring president of the National Advertising Executives Association and when he goes to the convention in Chicago in late January, there'll be a family reunion. The girls will be there without their five children (three for Joey and two for Sue) and it will be the first time just the foursome has been together since the year the daughters married, 1955. Joey and her husband are just back from three years in Nova Scotia and they'll be stationed at Kure Beach, near Wilmington, N.C., where he'll be personnel officer for a radar unit. ★ ★ ★ Vicki Levan, who graduated from Coral Gables High School in June and is now a student at Florida State University, will visit friends here during the holidays, Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Levan, formerly of 1527 Certosa Ave., are now residing in Atlanta. ★ ★ ★ It was a sad surprise for Heby (Mrs. Palmer) Craig, 737 Malaga Ave., who after living for 11 years in the Gables, has to move. Seems her husband Dr. Palmer Craig, director of rescue for Airpax Electronics Inc., Ft. Lauderdale, needs to move there. Heby came into The Times office to have their Times sent to their Lauderdale address, 490 SW 62nd Ave. She said, "Look at me, this soiled cotton dress but it was clean when the movers came to take the stuff. But I had only saved one formal dinner dress as we are being entertained in a farewell dinner tonight." "Say something funny about me in the paper," she smiled with tears in her eyes, as we took notes, and her address to be.
