Almost born on his 15 year old Uncle Gary Peckham's birthdate, was Jon Scott Mounts, born Friday March 30 at Baptist Hospital. He weighed in at 8 lbs., 4 1/2 ounces and he is the first born of Mr. and Mrs. John Mounts, and the first grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley L. Peckham, 1160 Alhambra Cir. His uncle Gary, a student at Ponce de Leon Junior High School, celebrated his 15th birthday Saturday March 31st. The Century Club members are surely not superstitious, their fourth and final dinner dance of the season will take place Friday, the 13th of April at the Coral Gables Country Club. To that end they will throw superstition to the winds and have a Spring Fantasy with flowers butterflies and woodland Elfs capering among the trees and flowers. Mr. and Mrs. William D. Fuller will further carry out the theme by having 13 at their table. The out-of-town guests will be Mrs. G. R. Downs Sr., of Altoona, Pa. Mr. Fuller's sister, and her son and his wife, the Downs Jr., of Ann Arbor, Mich. Hosting larger tables will be Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Goodrich, 4700 Sunset Dr.; General and Mrs. Edward Lastavo, 4511 Alhambra Cir., and Dr. and Mrs. Walter Jones Jr., of 841 NW 15th Ave. The Paul F Caters are to be guests at the Jones table and the William Tschumys are having Mr. and Mrs. Norman Skeels, Dr. and Mrs. Frank Woods and Mr. and Mrs. William Lewis among their guests. Mr. and Mrs. Barry Ryan, 6111 Granada Blvd., and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Holley, 5835 Granada Blvd., will be the guests of the David Stouders, 1032 Castile Ave. When women get together over a cup of coffee, the topic of conversation is either styles, other women or men. Monday, the topic of the coffee, Kay (Mrs. John) Montgomery gave at her home of Santa Maria Avenue, was Judge Ralph O. Cullen. Kay has taken the chairmanship of the women's division supporting Circuit Judge Cullen in his bid for election to the seat to which he was appointed by Gov. Leroy Collins when five judgeships were created in Dade County. Kay has had experience with women's groups, she has helped with the Little Theatre movement, was president of the Miami Children's Theatre, helped in the Coconut Grove theatre and is an actress in her own right. She made her debut in Coral Gables 20 years ago when as a member of the "Theater of the 15" fresh from the Pasadena Theatre Playhouse in California, the fifteen aspiring girls and boys arrived. They opened first in "The Banana Tree" then a restaurant on Alcazar Avenue, with second floor and patio, which was centered with a banana tree. They delighted the Gables people by putting on such plays as "Three Men on a Horse." Remember that one? Kay served coffee both hot and cold, and presiding at the urns were Mrs. Lloyd Park and Mrs. Herbert O. Vance, a neighbor of the Montgomerys' at 4520 Santa Maria. Saw Maudie (Mrs. William) Sanchez still walking with a cane, due to a broken hip three years ago, and as many operations on it. Mrs. Herbert Jarvis told us their daughter, Martha, who teaches school in Honolulu will tour the Orient this summer with a group of school marms. Gertrude (Mrs. John Hardeman) who won many a championship at golf, has retired from the game. She was the first chairman of the Coral Gables Country Club's Women's Golf Association - the year 1942-43.
