Tight Toe May Mean Your'e Ill

By MARY CAFFEE Correspondent Those stunning little high-heeled shoes with the needle sharp toes may look great but they can make the wearer feel terrible. Ill-fitting shoes is believed to be one cause of Morton's Disease, an injury to a small nerve in the foot, said Dr. Thomas M. Scotti, professor of pathology at the University of Miami School of Medicine. "The ailment is most common in women who often wear shoes which are too small for them," said Dr. Scotti. In a recent issue of the Journal of the American Podiatry, Dr. Scotti described the disease as a lission in the nerve which causes swelling and pain. Temporary relief can come after the shoes are removed. Moral? Ladies, wear bigger shoes.
