2 Youth Center Football Teams in Bowl

What a team! No, what two great teams. That won't do. It's four Gables teams, two of them in the Junior Orange Bowl games. And that's the way the ball, a football, bounced this year at the Coral Gables Youth Center. Four teams rolled over their opposition. From four divisions, three teams won their championships and the fourth landed in second place. The 95-pounders scored 226 points against their opponents' 12 for a season record of 12 wins. They're coached by Red Berry and George Pringle. The 115-pounders, coached by Vern Tinsman and Al Kumanchik, won 10 games and lost one. They allowed their opponents 37 points, but against this scored 210. Winning the championship in the Inter-City Athletic Conference means that both the 95 and 115-pounders will play in the Junior Orange Bowl Dec. 28 at Central Stadium. International Petroleum and the Coral Gables Jaycees sponsor the 95 and 115-pounders, respectively. The third division champion is the Coral Gables Police Benevolent Association unlimited team which finished the season with nine wins and one loss. Head coach was Joe Atwood. The 140-pounders, sponsored by the Youth Center, ran up a season's ledger of eight wins, one defeat and one tie. Six players from the 140-pounders were named to the Southern Football Conference All-Star team. They're Jim Searle, Buddy Wilkes, David Becham, Steve Spooner, Richard Starling and Bill McWhorter.

We Do It Right!

Gables teams set a record this year when they won all the division championships (three) in the Inter-City Athletic Conference plus the division championship in their weight class in the Southern Athletic Conference, the other league. Thus, it will be all-Gables in the games late this month. Our boys will furnish half the opposition in both games of the doubleheader at Central Stadium.

We Get A Number

The Federal Government, which does most everything by the numbers, gave a number to Coral Gables last week. This is one on its application for a $320,000 loan on the proposed SS-8 Sanitary Sewer District and will be used as a reference in future correspondence between the City and the Federal Government, said City Manager L. W. Robinson Jr. But no word has been received on whether the City will receive approval on the sewer district, bounded by Red Road, Sunset Drive, South Dixie Highway and an irregular boundary along the commercial area, Hardee Road and Maynada Avenue.

For Unusual Deafness NEW MICRO-SIZE HEARING AID

The tiniest thing of its kind is this new hearing aid by Telex made for those who are able to hear but can't understand speech. It weighs less than 1⁄2 ounce, and is so small it's buried in the little finger of a lady's glove. People who have rejected all hearing aids because of size and unsightly appearance consider it the nearest thing to secret hearing help ever developed. To find out about this midget aid without cost or obligation, write or visit Telex, 310 Aragon Avenue, inside arcade of Executive Bldg. opposite Bus Terminal.
