Happy Note for Band: Trip Set
Coral Gables Senior High Band has almost enough money for its transportation to the Mid-West Band Clinic to be held Dec. 19-20 in Chicago. The band needed $7,100 for plane fare and at the beginning of the week it had $6,500. Mrs. Sam Matthews, treasurer of the Parent's Band Patrons, said more money has been coming in all week, but the exact total is not known because it is impossible to keep figures for each day. William Ledue, band directors, says he is certain the band will have the money it needs by the end of the week when all the funds are counted. Each band member and chaperone will pay for his hotel bill and meals. One hundred members of the approximately 120-member band are going. Only 90 are allowed to perform on the stage in Chicago, and those going were chosen on the basis of ability. The other 10 are alternates. On other band trips, the members desiring to go signed up on an optional basis, but this is a command performance based upon the talent of the performer. Frederic Groffe, noted U.S. composer, will conduct the band in its performance in Chicago. The events of last Thursday's "Band Day of Distinction" netted $625 profit. The day was climaxed with a spaghetti supper, white elephant sale and a band concert. and suddenly ...HE'S A REAL DADDY
You know how the years suddenly slip away. He is on intimate terms with birds, snakes, insects and butterflies. He knows that every mechanical device ever produced is operating ineffectively and must be taken apart. He knows that mud was created mostly for little boys to play in and that sleep is a very essential requirement for other people. He also knows you love him with a passion impossible to explain and his love for you is all consuming. He knows you get angry, spank and punish but ... will protect him at all times. You know this too. So help protect his future by opening an insured savings account at South Miami Federal now and add to it regularly. A little boy and a savings account have a wonderful way of growing... together. South Miami FEDERAL SAVINGS AND LOAN ASSOCIATION 6075 SUNSET DR.
