As Presentation Ball Date Draws Nearer, 25 Beautiful Girls Prepare For Their Debuts
MISS GABRIEL MISS GRAHAM MISS GRENTNER MISS HALIFAX MISS HERNANDEZ This is the third in a series of pictures and sketches of the 25 girls who will make their debut in local society on April 7. The occasion will be the third annual Presentation Ball sponsored by the Coral Gables Woman's Club. It will be at the Coral Gables Country Club. * * * Patricia Gene Gabriel is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Floyd Gabriel, 756 Malaga Ave. She was born in Chicago, Ill., and came to Coral Gables five years ago with her parents. She was graduated from Ponce de Leon Junior High School and will be a June graduate of Coral Gables High School. Patricia's school honors include membership in Modern Music Masters, Classical League and The University of Miami Musical Comedy Singers. She was named the most talented in her sophomore year and also her Junior year. Patricia's hobbies are swimming and sewing. Her maternal grandmother is Mrs. Walton Lee Clark, 2600 Segovia. Patricia's father is an air-control specialist. Her mother is a member of the Coral Gables Woman's Club and of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Her parents are members of the Country Club of Coral Gables and of its Fleet Club. Carol Jean Graham is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry William Graham, of 65 Morningside Dr. She was born in Philadelphia, Pa., and came to Miami with her parents when she was three years old. Carol had all of her schooling in Coral Gables graduating from Ponce de Leon Junior and Coral Gables High Schools. She was Junior Board representative for three successive terms, sophomore, junior and senior, at Coral Gables High School; vice president of her homeroom her sophomore year and treasurer her senior year. She was Junior Prom committee chairman her junior year. She also was a member of Allied Youth and Concert Chorus. Her hobbies are choral work and soloist in music and water skiing. Mr. and Mrs. Edward H. Neely, of 3653 SW 26th Ter., are her maternal grandparents. Her paternal grandfather is John W. Graham of the Helen-Mar Hotel, Miami Beach. * * * Patricia Gaye Grentner, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Elden Grentner Jr., of 600 Jeronimo Dr., was born and reared in Coral Gables. She attended elementary and Junior High schools here and was graduated from Coral Gables High School, where she was a member of Cavallettes and the National Honor Society. Her hobbies are swimming and water skiing. She is a member of Junior Assembly and the Twenty Little Working Girls, in which she received a service award. She served as secretary of the Coral Gables Junior Girls Club, sponsored by the Coral Gables Junior Woman's Club. Patricia is the granddaughter of Mrs. John Bush, of 600 Jeronimo Dr. Her father is an automobile dealer and distributor of Miami. Mrs. Grentner is a member of the Guild of Museum of Science and Natural History and both Mr. and Mrs. Grentner are members of the Riviera Country Club. * * * Verona Eunice Halifax is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Raymond Halifax, of 3501 Durango St. She was born and reared in Coral Gables. She attended Everglades School for Girls, Stuart Hall and Coral Gables High School, where she was a member of Future Teachers of America, Allied Youth and the Art Club. Her hobbies are sewing, reading, riding, swimming, tennis and travel. She holds memberships in the Junior Assembly, and is a junior member of the Riviera Country Club, Country Club of Coral Gables and the Palmetto Country Club. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. J. N. Halifax of Savannah, Ga. Her father is the owner of an automobile agency. Her mother is a member of the Coral Gables Woman's Club and her parents are members of the Country Club of Coral Gables, Riviera Country Club and the Palmetto Country Club. Cherished in her book of memories will be the six-months camping trip via automobile-trailer to Europe in 1957. Pictures in color and the story were published in the June 1957 issue of the National Geographic magazine. During the summer of 1960, the family again traveled to Europe, and Verona, her mother, and her sister, Joan, played roles in a televised film entitled, "Americans in London." * * * Andria Evangeline Hernandez is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Moises S. Hernandez, of 5865 SW 99th Ter. Andria was born in Warner Robins, Ga., and reared in Dallas. She is a graduate of South Miami Junior High School and Coral Gables High School where she held memberships in the National and Spanish Honor Societies, Quill and Scroll, Allied Youth, Chemistry Club and Junior and Senior Boards. She was Varsity cheer leader for two years, and was elected Sweetheart of the Coral Gables Wheel Club. Andria's hobbies are skating and athletics, including fishing, tennis, swimming and water skiing. She was chaplain of the Junior Girls Club, service club sponsored by the Coral Gables Junior Woman's Club. Her maternal grandfather is William Baker of Wedoka, Okla. Her father is a physician. Dr. and Mrs. Hernandez are members of the Coral Reef Yacht Club.
Venture Club Will Serve Turkey Dinner
The Venture Club of Coral Gables is announcing its annual turkey dinner for Monday at 7 p.m. to be held at the Westminster Foundation, University of Miami campus. The club, made up of young working girls between the ages of 18 and 35, is sponsored by the Soroptimists of Coral Gables. Nancy (Mrs. Robert E.) Hazel is president. Miss Ann Vorhees and Miss Barbara Mullaney are chairmen. The dinner is open to the public and tickets may be purchased at the door. Proceeds will be used for expenses of the annual conference of the Southeastern Region of Venture Clubs to be held April 20-23 at the Barcelona Hotel.
Golfers Choose Their Partners
Best ball twosome (choose your own partner) was the tournament Friday at the Country Club of Coral Gables Women's Golf Association in the morning rounds. Mrs. Claude Pepper and Mrs. Georgia Miller came up with a 30 to win first place. Three-way tie was the luck of three twosomes: Mrs. John Finerty and Mrs. Dave Bosworth; Mrs. Fred Jones and Mrs. Eugene Kasper; Mrs. Albert Bachmann and Mrs. Glenn Wood, who each scored a 32.
