ADULTS DON'T hold the monopoly on spring styles, these young models prove. They paraded in the style show for children recently held at the Country Club of Coral Gables. At top are Susie Kass and Freddie Faith. In the bottom photo are Debbie Liles, left, and Gini Hessen. (Photos by Marty Aronow)

South Miami Hospital Dance Will Celebrate First Year

Congratulations and good wishes will be in order Saturday night at King's Bay Yacht Club, when 250 local citizens gather for the first annual South Miami Hospital dinner dance to celebrate the hospital's first year of service to the community. The Citizens Advisory Board, a group of civic leaders who provide counsel and guidance to the hospital foundation; the Board of Governors; the hospital administrative group; the Women's Auxiliary, an organization formed for the sole purpose of serving the hospital, and the entire medical staff will be on hand to join in the celebration. 140 Beds South Miami Hospital, a seven-story, 140 bed hospital, which ranks as one of the country's most modern and best equipped, was dedicated on March 20, 1960. During the first year of operation 700 new babies were born, over 3500 surgical procedures were executed and 6500 local citizens joined the ranks of the hospital's "pampered patients." To show its appreciation for many hours of dedicated effort, both during the first year of operation and in the beginning months of organizational struggle, the South Miami Hospital Foundation will honor three outstanding citizens at the anniversary celebration. To Be Honored The Hon. Paul U. Tevis, mayor of South Miami and chairman of the Citizens Advisory Board of the hospital, will be appointed the first honorary member of the Foundation. Omar E. Stang, former chairman of the Board of Governors, and Dr. James A. Vaughn Jr., first president of the Medical Staff, will also receive awards for their generous contributions. Presentations will be made by Dr. Robert L. Cherry. Dr. David Hallstrand, chairman of the dinner dance, was assisted by committee members Dr. Cherry and Dr. Thomas J. Baker. After the presentations Dr. Hallstrand will announce special plans which are being developed for the presentation of Class A Bonds for public sale. The bonds, which are limited in number, are 6 per cent bonds, maturing in 10 years.
