This sandwich is sure to please

Here's a man-size sandwich idea with all the ingredients that will appeal to the hungry men in your house. Using whole wheat bread for the base, place four slices of corned beef and three dill pickle slices on each sandwich. Top with triangles of cheese, making use of the slightly sharp flavors of Brick or Muenster. Zippy chopped green onions sprinkled over the cheese give the sandwich gobble-up goodness. Serve with large mugs of milk. Corned beef with Brick 4 servings 4 slices whole wheat bread buttered Prepared mustard 16 slices thinly sliced corned beef (about 1/2 lb.) 12 thin slices dill pickle 6 slices Brick or Muenster cheese Chopped green onion Spread buttered bread with mustard. Arrange four slices corned beef on each slice of bread; top with three slices of pickle. Cut cheese slices in half diagonally. Top each sandwich with three cheese triangles. Sprinkle on onion.

Perhaps this pear dessert was named after Napoleon's Josephine. The recipe is simplicity itself and ideal after a filling main course. The fruit salad is another simple dish to prepare. Caramel pears Josephine Eight fresh pears Six tablespoons butter Eight tablespoons sugar One teaspoon rum One cup heavy cream Peel and core pears then cut into quarters. Pack together in an oven proof dish and sprinkle with sugar. Cut butter into small pieces and dot pears then sprinkle the rum on top. Bake at about 325 degrees until sugar and butter have caramelized. Remove the pears to individual serving dishes then add the cream to the caramel, shake and pour over pears. Serve hot. Exotic fruit salad One cup diced fresh pineapple Two cups lychees (these are available canned) One cup tangerine or orange slices (with membrane removed) Two tablespoons honey One tablespoon lime juice Toasted slivered almonds Mix fruits together for a pleasing color combination, combine lime juice and honey, sprinkle over fruit and gently turn over to blend then sprinkle top with slivered almonds and serve.

Zonta convention to be held

The Zonta Club of Greater Miami II, a service organization of executive women in business and the professions, is having its Zonta International Convention of Continental North and South America from June 18 to July 3.
